Natural, organic and biodynamic wines

Confetti claims to be the largest natural wine festival in Poland, but actually it is one of the largest in Europe for sure with more than 100 wineries from 16 countries, including Hungary. Csetvei Cellar (Mór / Somló) and Kristinus (South Balaton) will also be present at the 6th edition of Confetti. The event looks so awesome, that it might be worth converting to organic to be able to participate!

“Being precise does not mean standardizing” – it is an important sentence from Mirtha, an Italian winemaker. She means that natural wines are not accepted to be unclean, the era of the “funky” wines is over, natural wine lovers want great terroir wines without faults. You can listen to Mirtha and others talk about “that cool thing in wine that everybody loves and she does not” here, within the Confetti Questionnaire.

Date and time: 19 Apr 2026, 12.00–19.00 (from 12.00 for trade members and from 14.00 for all guests). There is an afterparty from 19.00 to 22.00!
Venue: Stara Zajezdnia, Św. Wawrzyńca 12, 31-060 Kraków, Poland
Tickets: trade: 129 PLN / person (approximately 30 EUR), 199 PLN / person (approximately 47 EUR)

The wines from our cover photo

Csetvei Juhfark 2024, Somló

Csetvei Cellar is located in Mór wine region, but they own a vineyard in the volcanic Somló wine region as well. This wine is made of Juhfark, the emblematic grape of Somló. Gentle pressing, spontaneous fermentation on the skins, aged in stone clay amphora, unclarified, unfiltered, bottled without adding sulphur. Spiciness and dried southern fruits, raisins in the sip. A total of 340 bottles were made.
More about Csetvei Cellar

Kristinus Liquid Sundwoner 2022, Balatonboglár

An orange wine made of 40% Gewürztraminer, 20% Pinot Gris, 20% Welschriesling and 20% Chardonnay. Fermented spontaneously, long skin contact (30–90 days), aged in several vessels: amphora, used oak barrel, stainless steel. Unclarified, unfiltered, bottled with a small amount of sulphur (33 mg/L). “Sundowner means a drink that you enjoy in the late afternoon, around those few minutes when the sun disappears behind the horizon – a feeling that reminds us of this complex and structured orange wine.” (Movin Agency)

Pre-order of the 3rd Wine + Vinyl pack has started!

“…clinging to the tiny details of a world that is disappearing before our eyes—for us, that’s natural wine and vinyl records.”

Krisztina Csetvei, a winemaker from the tiny Mór wine region, found her soulmate in DJ Frigyes Machán, aka Nesta, and not only did they take each other’s surnames, but music and wine became forever intertwined in their lives. The 3rd edition of Natúralista Wine & Vinyl is available to pre-order!

What music and what wines!

Nesta seeks out the most exciting undiscovered musical treasures from the farthest corners of the world and puts them on vinyl, because that is true quality and truly timeless. Kriszti has thrown out the chemicals, cultivates her grapes organically, and lets the finished wines live, without filtering or clarifying them, just loving them. The previous two editions of Natúralista sold out in no time. Don’t miss out, because only 100 copies are being produced!

Pre-sales are now open!

– Pre-sales began on January 13 and will continue until stocks last, but no later than April 30. You can purchase two types of wine and vinyl packages.
– Those who request courier delivery withing Hungary (an additional 3,000 or 3,500 HUF depending on the package) will receive their order in May or June. For shipping abroad, contact Krisztina Csetvei.
– Those who prefer to pick up their order in person are welcome to do so at Csetvei Garden in Mór, where the wine and vinyl handover ceremony will take place on June 13.

One- or six-bottle package

– Mini package: 1 bottle of natural Csetvei wine (Szürkebarát dry petnat) and 1 Nesta selection vinyl record together: 25,400 HUF + 1 free ticket to the Csetvei Garden party on June 13.
– Maxi package: 6 bottles of natural Csetvei wine (bubbly, white and red as well) and 1 Nesta selection vinyl record: 49,530 HUF + 2 free tickets to the Csetvei Garden party on June 13.
To order one of the packages, contact Krisztina Csetvei

Nesta says about the vinyl

About the songs on the compilation, homage à la Krasznahorkai (Hungarian Nobel prize winner in literature in 2025): this year you can’t do without “yachtrockitalodiscocumbiafunksoularabicpopmediterraneansunshinereunionisocaortroubadoursofwalesandbraziliancircle”.For those who want to dance, those who want to explore, those who are thirsty, those who travel with us, so that we can live for 12 months, because that’s the only way it’s worth it.

What does Kriszti Csetvei say about the wine?

– Our RAW/ka wines are bottled raw, unfiltered, unclarified, and without added sulphur.
– Our organically cultivated vineyard provides the fruit for the wine.
– My job from here on is to preserve and care for it in the cellar. I made it with love.
The unique vinyl graphics and label design are the work of young graphic designer Dóra Csavajda.

ROVINHUD Wine Show, Timișoara, Romania

ROVINHUD is one of the best wine events of Europe, for sure! You can believe me, I was there at the first one, and also last year, ten years later – and keep following it. At the walk-around tasting visitors can taste superb Romanian and Hungarian wines from 22 exhibitors, plus there will be fabulous masterclasses of international topics (for instance Champagne or Bordeaux), including a masterclass called “Skin, Orange, Amber. Wines to remember” by Imre Szakács-Orha DipWSET (in the photo).
And all the profit goes to improve the quality of life of disabled young people – your money goes to the best place.
If you scroll down, you will find a detailed article of mine about the greatness of this event.
By Ágnes Németh

Date and time: 7–8 November 2025, see detailed programme and opening hours here.
Venue: Timișoara Convention Center and restaurants
More information and tickets

A masterclass we highly recommend: Skin, Orange, Amber. Wines to remember

Speaker: Imre Szakács-Orha DipWSET

1. Recas – Sole Orange 2024
2. Purcari – Nocturne Rkatsiteli Orange 2023
3. Guerila – Malvazija 2021
4. Csetvei – Raw/ka Ezerjó Narancs 2024
5. Breitenbach – Orange Furmint 2015
6. Movia – Lunar Ribolla 2021 7. Nachbil – Grandpa 2020
8. Danieli – Kisi Qvevri Premium 2022
9. Breitenbach – Esszencia 2013

Csetvei – Raw/ka Ezerjó Narancs 2024 – the wine from our cover photo

Amber wine made of Ezerjó variety, picked from one single plot. The grape was soaked on the skins for 16 days, fermented, and then pressed with a small wooden basket press. The hand-harvested and selected grapes fermented simultaneously in the vat. After gentle pressing, fermentation was completed in the tank. Unclarified, unfiltered, bottled wine without the addition of sulphur. Very rich, slightly vermouth-like, spicy, long-lasting wine, with a wonderful amber color.
More about Csetvei Cellar

Let’s go blind dating in Timișoara!

(This article of mine below was published on Pécsi Borozó on 3 December 2024)

Here are five reasons why you should be in Timișoara on November 7–9.

Zoltán Szövérdfi-Szép, the creator and driving force behind the 10-year-old RoVinHud event, wanted to throw a great party where wine lovers like himself could learn and marvel at the beauty of the world, and where he could raise some money for his disabled protégés.He succeeded, but not only that—RoVinHud has become an event where you have to decide when to eat between master classes because you don’t want to miss any of them, and of course you want to taste your way through the entire exhibition space. I know, because I was there at its “birth,” and even at its “conception,” and I’m still there now. The arguments in brief, up front:
1. “Save as” – how can a copy be better?
2. Three days of professionalism
3. Timișoara is cool
4. Something that really makes sense
5. The absolute blind date – the most bizarre and at the same time coolest idea in the northern hemisphere.

The article continues under the photos.

1. “Save as” – how can a copy be better?

I was editor-in-chief of Vince magazine for 12 years, and I still write today, but mostly in English. However, I would like to share this with you, and I am confident that Pécsi Borozó is a good forum for what I have to say. I also organized the Vince Budapest Wine Show for eight years, dreaming of something grandiose and working myself to the bone – but happily – to make it a legend. Everyone who matters has been to our event, and even now, many people come up to me and say that it was there that their eyes were opened and they tasted wonders. Zoltán Szövérdfi-Szép, or Zoli, was a regular guest, and he brought more and more guests from Romania, sometimes even a busload of people. Once he wrote to me to talk, and of course I wrote back, but in the rush I forgot about it. He, however, did not forget, he came, and I sat with him in one of the smallest meeting rooms between two grueling meetings, watching my watch, desperately lamenting the wasted minutes. What does this man want? An event like Vince, but over there, across the border, in Romania? I didn’t really take him seriously, but as he talked and talked, he became more and more convincing, and ultimately, what kind of Christian am I if I don’t help those who turn to me? So I helped in any way I could, with information, advice, experience, and connections. He wanted Jancis Robinson as the star speaker for the first year, which I could only laugh sadly at, but he was right, so I wrote to the grande dame of wine experts, who immediately replied that she would of course be there, because this was an exciting initiative with a noble goal—it was her place to help. And there she was, not only asking for no star fee, but not even a penny.

2. Three days of professionalism

If you loved the atmosphere at Vince Budapest, bumping into internationally renowned experts in the hallway, washing your hands next to a star winemaker in the bathroom, and tasting wines that you wanted to take notes on, even if you’re not a wine snob, then you’re definitely missing this now. There are a few events, but they are short, with small tastings, or the themes are not exciting, and we can’t find such large-scale events in neighboring countries either, or if we do, follow me. I keep an eye on everything, and I know there are exciting events—such as the German magazine Falstaff’s sufficiently professional and hedonistic party—but we don’t have many such pleasures nearby. Meanwhile, RoVinHud has been bringing the best in an increasingly professional manner for ten years. The glasses are flawless, every masterclass starts right on time, the technique is perfect, and I could go on and on, I couldn’t find a single fault. The only thing missing is interpretation, but even that is a positive: in Timișoara, the 100-150 masterclass guests have no problem listening to the lectures in English, because everyone speaks English.

3. Timișoara is cool

Romania’s second or third largest city (alternating with Cluj-Napoca) has developed significantly over the past ten years. As Zoli’s partner Erika said, they owe a lot to the mayor, as historic buildings are being renovated one after another, less central parts of the city are being revitalized, and even the tram service is becoming more reliable. Over the weekend, I visited two really cool restaurants, one of which was Zaza, a bistro-style restaurant serving impeccable food, and the other was Ferment, a fine dining restaurant serving bold and surprising dishes (dill-fermented cabbage juice in borscht with cabbage leaves and carrot rice – would you believe it was super delicious? It was!). And Timișoara was the city where a large crowd (150 people) started the Romanian revolution on December 15, 1989, which ended 10 days later with the execution of Ceaușescu. During the so-called Revolution Tour, a representative of Timisoara City Tours takes you along the route torn apart by machine gun fire, while showing original footage taken at the scene – quite moving…

And the result of all this, which I find most appealing, is the multicultural nature of Timișoara. Zoli is Hungarian from Timișoara, his partner is German, but there are also Serbs and, of course, Romanians. And everyone understands all the other languages and speaks a little of the other nationalities’ languages, in addition to the aforementioned “obvious” knowledge of English. The nationalities have been living in peace with each other for centuries, which is why the planned dismissal of the Hungarian Reformed pastor sparked a revolution, because Romanians, Germans, and Serbs stood up for the Hungarians, just as Hungarians would have done in the opposite situation.

4. Something that really makes sense

RoVinHud is a 100% charity event, with all proceeds going to the Ceva de Spus association, which, under Zoli’s leadership, works to enable people with disabilities to live full lives. The proceeds from the first year were enough to purchase a van that can easily transport wheelchair users. Most of the people working at the event are volunteers with disabilities, but there are also family members. Julia, who is in a wheelchair, traveled all the way from Constanța to Timișoara to work at the event. As she said, life in her hometown is very difficult in a wheelchair, but thanks to the activists of Ceva de Spus, people in Timișoara have stopped parking on the sidewalk, and the majority of the city’s residents help people with disabilities. At the end of each master class, a person with disabilities presented a gift. I was particularly touched by the little boy who presented the gift to Jakob Kripp, the owner of the Stirbey winery. This little boy came to the lecturer on his own two feet, even though he had previously been unable to sit up, which he should have been able to do at his age. The family did not have the money for therapy, so they raised the necessary funds by holding a Stirbey wine tasting. The €66,000 raised from last year’s event was enough to finance therapy for 60 children.

I really think this makes sense. Buying expensive wines and tasting them at events just for our own enjoyment or so we can say we can afford them is rather pathetic. But if every penny (or lei) helps even a little bit someone who is struggling in their daily life, then it all makes sense.

5. The absolute blind date – the most bizarre and at the same time coolest idea in the northern hemisphere

In addition to his determination, professionalism, and wonderful spirit, Zoli is also incredibly creative. Last year, he looked at the top wines landing in his many spittoons, the single-vineyard Furmints, the exciting Kadarkas, the magnificent Rieslings, and had a big idea. He collected the contents of the spittoons, had the whole lot distilled by a state-of-the-art distiller and professional distiller, and thus Very Blind Date, a wine distillate, was born. “Leave me alone with that slobber,” said Imre Szakács, one of the speakers, but of course he tasted it in the end, as did I, and the result was a very delicate, almost caressing, perfume-like, elegant distillate. About 40 bottles were made, one of which was taken home by a happy date partner at an auction for €150, and there is still some left, just as there will certainly be distillate from the leaves collected at the 2024 event. And why do I mention the northern hemisphere in the subtitle? Because, as Zoli discovered during his research, the idea had also occurred to an Australian independently, and the name of the product is quite similar: Kissing a stranger

Tamlyn Currin on JancisRobinson.com

As we reported earlier, Tamlyn Currin, the brilliant wine expert at JancisRobinson.com, took part in a cross-border tasting event of Furmint, Olaszrizling (Welschriesling) and Kékfrankos (Blaufränkisch) wines, held in the Slovenian village of Kog. The participants tasted 105 wines from 10 countries. Earlier we introduced one of the best Hungarian Furmint wines, and today let us introduce Csetvei Kő-Papír-Olló “Kő” Olaszrizling 2019 from Somló.
The event was organized by the Kog 25 Pannonia association, which consists of local winemakers and an Irish couple who are wine merchants and cultivate a small area of land in Slovenia. The blind tasting included a workshop dedicated to each variety.

Italian Riesling from Italy – and other countries

The Hungarian Olaszrizling word literally means Italian Riesling, and the same term is used in Italy, even though the grape originates in the Carpathian Basin (though there is research claiming Italian origin). The German Welschriesling means “other Riesling”, while the Croatian-Slovenian name Grasevina does not have any special literal meaning.
GROW is an annual Grasevina-Olaszrizling-Welschriesling competition – hence the abbreviation as the name of the contest –, and GROW is also an official, recently accepted name for the grape variety.

A white grape showing well in barrel

As for Olaszrizling, Tamlyn Currin mentions that this variety is still underrated, even though it can produce wonders when yield is properly restricted. In his opinion, the finest Olaszrizling wines are richly fruity and spicy, and their complexity is enhanced by spontaneous fermentation, lees ageing, skin contact, and barrel ageing.
The highest score here was 18, achieved by an Italian and a Slovenian wine, while 6 wines received 17.5 points, 4 Austrian and 2 Slovenian. Among the 17-point wines, we finally see a Hungarian Olaszrizling, the 2023 Olaszrizling from Somlói Vándor. Among the seven 16.5-point wines, there is also a Hungarian wine, also from Somló, namely Krisztina Csetvei’s 2019 Olaszrizling from Kő-Papír-Olló Kő.

Csetvei Kő-Papír-Olló “Kő” Olaszrizling 2019, Somló

Tamlyn Currin’s wine review:
“Waxy and paraffin-smoky. Terse. Juddering with the slam of gravel and powerful. Stinky and volcanic in nature. Bitter and chiselled into grooves. Dramatic and almost shocking. I was not remotely surprised when this ferocious wine turned out to be from Somló!”

Rock-Paper-Scissors – Rock!

Krisztina Csetvei is utterly creative and her ideas in reflected in names, labels, events and several projects. The name of the wine, Kő-Papír-Olló refers to the popular children’s game, in English it is called Rock-Paper-Scissors. Krisztina Csetvei has a whole line with the same name, and the winner is obviously the maturing vessel – in case of this Somló Olaszrizling the winner is the rock, referring to the volcanic soil of Somló mountain, a feature dominating the character of the wine.

Csetvei Cellar is located in Mór wine region, but they have vineyards in Somló as well.

Bock, Csetvei, Etyeki Kúria, Kristinus, Gróf Degenfeld

Orange wines are undoubtedly trendy, exciting and have their own personality. Though the style comes from the heart of Europe – Croatia, Italy and Slovenia –, and Georgia is another country must to be mentioned, the term “orange wines” comes from British sommeliers, and the Orange Wine Day comes from the United States, where they are especially keen on dedicating days to everything. Let us introduce 5 great orange wines from Hungary.
Cover photo (without bottle shots): Pexels / Robin Kumar Biswal

What is orange wine?

Long macerated white wine, which gets a special, orange-like colour due to the prolonged skin contact. There is an epicentre of orange wines in an area of three neighbouring countries, Croatia, Italy and Slovenia. Now orange wine is made in many countries, from New Zealand to Hungary.

Amber wine

In Georgia, one of the oldest wine countries of the world, long maceration is a tradition. Here the wine style is called amber wine.

Orange Wine Festival in Vienna and in Australia

A whole event is dedicated to orange wines twice a year, once in Slovenia (Izola) and once in Austria (Vienna). The Vienna event takes place on 25 November in the Museums Quarter. Tickets are available for 55 EUR / person. Etyeki Kúria from Hungary will also participate.
In Australia in the so called “orange wine region” a series of events will be held in the second half of October.
More about Australia Orange Wine Festival

Amber revolution – the book

Simon J Woolf wine writer wrote the first book about orange wines, a comprehensive story of “how the world learned to love” this style. Woolf won the Louis Roederer Best Wine Book of the Year prize in 2019, and New York Times Best Wine Book accolade in 2018. “Learn about the backstory – the many millennia of history in Georgia, the traditions in Friuli and Slovenia. Discover how these wines are made, why they taste different, where to buy & how to enjoy. Includes food matching tips and a guide to 180 top producers worldwide.”
Buy the book here

Who started?

National Orange Wine Day was launched by Amanda Claire Goodwin wine expert in 2018. ” “I have a special interest in natural wines and lesser known / emerging wine regions. I particularly chose to focus on wines and producers that are practicing sustainability, organic, and/or biodynamics practices.” – comments Amanda on her website.

Bock Narancsbor 2024, Villány

The famous Villány producer has released the first orange wine of the estate, a medium dry wine made of 100% Hárslevelű with 14 days skin contact. “High viscosity and ripe fruit aromas — dried apricot and linden honey — greet us as we inhale. On the palate, it quickly becomes evident that the wine, born from healthy and naturally shrivelled berries, has not fermented to complete dryness. Alongside a moderated yet elegant acidity, the characteristic notes of Hárslevelű unfold in succession: yellow apple, pear compote, and dried apricot. These are accompanied by honey, roasted seeds, and a bouquet of dried flowers. The long, lingering finish with orange oil and the silky bitterness of orange peel. Perfectly suited to pair with a spicy Pad Thai.”

Csetvei RAW / KA Ezerjó Orange Wine 2024, Mór

Ezerjó is a rare grape and it is especially important in the small Mór wine region. Krisztina Csetvei has totally changed her range of wines to natural wines, and certainly orange wine is included in the RAW / KA line (raw refers to the natural character of the wines while pronounced, it sounds like ‘róka’, the fox in Hungarian, referring to the colour of the wine. The hand harvested Ezerjó grape was soaked on the skins for 16 days, fermented, and then pressed with a small wooden basket press. After gentle pressing, fermentation was completed in the tank. “Unclarified, unfiltered, bottled wine without the addition of sulphur. Very rich, slightly vermouth-like, spicy, long-lasting wine, with a wonderful amber colour.”

Pannonhalma Archabbey – yes, the abbeys love wine!

Do you know how much a “hemina” of wine is? “Hemina is the proper daily amount of wine – if you drink it, you find God, but it is not enough to make you vulnerable for the devil’s temptation.” According to the explanation of the team of the winery, Saint Benedict’s rule does not define the exact amount… (Read more here.) So, if you enjoy well chilled wine on the stunning wine terrace of Pannonhalma Archabbey Winery, you do not have to have remorse, as long as you consume your own Hemina…

Homola Paloznak – jazz is all around

Outstanding wines, great food and unparalleled mood.

Sauska – fine dining on a flying saucer

“Stars in the sky, stars in the glass. Sparkling wine bar above the Tokaj vineyards with a view of the universe.” The other end of the country, the other way of feeling good. While the previous three places are relaxed, why-not-sit-on-the-grass places, Sauska Tokaj is a stylish restaurant and wine terrace with award winning architecture and interior design. The estate building is the home of the winery as well, hard to believe, but the unique building is a functioning vinification plant with cellar to ferment the wines.

Where: Rátka 2722 hrsz (Tokaj wine region)
How to get there: By car it takes approximately 2 hours and 40 minutes via M3. By public transport take an Intercity to Szerencs, change into a passenger train to Mád and walk about 25 minutes. Long way, but worth it!
Opening hours: Both Padi restaurant and the Bar has terrace. Opening hours: Thursday, Friday and Saturday: 12.00–22.00 (between 16.00 and 18.00 only the bar is open), Sunday: 12.00–16.00.
What to taste: First of all, try some of the elaborated plates created by Attila Bicsár executive chef and Máté Gerák resident chef. The ‘Tribute to Tokaj’ is a 5-course menu, a great way to discover the treasures of Tokaj with plates like Padi apple pie with apricot jam, Aszú sabayon and vanilla ice cream, paired with Sauska Tokaji Aszú 6 puttonyos 2017. If you just pop in for a glass to enjoy the beauty around you, ask for a glass of Furmint Brut Vintage 2018 from the extensive wine list of Sauska products (including jeroboam bottles).
An event not to miss: The bar hosts several tastings including a Tokaj Sparkling Wine session, find contact below on the website. The venue is also available for weddings or other events.

Noble Rot Wein Bar

Krisztina Csetvei never stays put, on the contrary, she is always on the road. See Csetvei calendar below, and pick a date to taste the new vintage Raw/ka wines. Raw refers to the natural winemaking and character of the wines, while Raw-ka pronounced with the English pronunciation sounds ‘róka’, meaning ‘fox’ in Hungarian. The ‘foxy lady’ proved her creativity again:)

Double fox – orange wine by Csetvei

By now almost all Csetvei wines are made with the least intervention: spontaneous fermentation, no clarifying and no filtering. Raw/ka Róka 2023 has another fox in the name due to its foxy colour: Szürkebarát (Pinot Gris) grapes were left on the skin for 16 days to get the colour, and then the wine was blended with stainless steel fermented Tramini (Traminer). Unclarified, unfiltered, bottled wine without the addition of sulphur. “Rosy and spicy wine with a long finish.“

From today Csetvei Cellar is officially organic!

Mór is the headquarters, but the vineyard in Somló is equally important for Krisztina Csetvei and her husband, Frici. And now both vineyards are officially organic, transition period is over! We celebrate this adorable couple and their estate with one of their latest releases: Csetvei RAW/ka KF 2023, a natural siller with all the fruit power of Kékfrankos grape.

“Fruit juice for adults”

According to label, this darker-than-rosé wine is ideal for those adults, who like drinking wine, but also appreciate the clean, intense fruit flavours. Red berry fruits, mainly strawberry is abundant in this wine, which fermented spontaneously, free from “added anything”, unfined and unfiltered.
The wine belongs to the RAW/ka family of the estate, a natural wine line and with a fox as a symbol (raw obviously refers to the natural character of the wine, while with -ka suffix together it sounds like the Hungarian “róka” word, meaning fox).

Congratulations to the Csetvei Family!

Have a happy “first-official-organic-day”!

Castle of Bodajk, Hungary

We started celebrated Ezerjó Day (16 May) three years ago, and now the producers of Ezerjó in Mór have come up something new again: the first edition of Százszorszép Ezerjó Est will be held on 22 June in the gorgeous Castle of Bodajk. The elegant venue gives this rare grape variety the prestige it deserves.
Our cover photo above features Krisztina Csetvei winemaker, one of the organisers. Photo by Már Vártalak bakery and cultural space.

“I see Ezerjó as one of the most exciting Hungarian grape varieties, with great potential to make distinctive, intense yet refreshing wines in a very contemporary style.”

Wojciech Bonkowski MW, Poland

A little language lesson: Százszorszép Ezerjó Est

We are aware of the fact that our weird language is an enigma to every foreigner, thus the name of the event needs some explanation. ‘Ezerjó’ is a white grape grown only in a few regions, mainly in Mór wine region, and the name means ‘Thousand Good’ literally. ‘Est’ means ‘Evening’, since the event takes place in the evening (from 5 pm), it is the easy part. Then we have a lovely, long word ‘Százszorszép’, which literally means ‘Hundred times beautiful’. Now, you can do the maths…:)

Ezerjó Grand Tasting (I. Százszorszép Ezerjó Est)

Ezerjó – a grape variety to discover

Literally Ezerjó means ‘Thousand Good’, and it used to be one of the most common varieties in Hungary, well known throughout the Carpathian Basin.
It is almost totally restricted to one wine region, named Mór. The small region is proud of the grape and its winemakers produce more and more remarkable wines from this lesser known and lesser respected grape. We can find Ezerjó in Kunság and Neszmély wine regions as well.
Its wine has pale, greenish colour. Usually restrained on the nose, slightly aromatic. It gives light body, easy drinking, juicy with high acidity. It is also capable of giving complex, layered wines when aged in amphora or barrel.
