Type of wine: Dry, Red

Grape varieties: 42% Cabernet Franc, 40% Syrah, 18% Merlot

Alcohol: 14.33%

Acidity: 5.5 g/l

Residual sugar: 2.5 g/l

Extract: 31.9 g/l

Terroir, vineyard: Villány – Dobogó, Mandolás and Városhegy vineyards

Technology: Varieties and the crop from each vineyard were treated and vinified separately.

Fermentation began in open tanks, continued with closed pumping over. Fermentation continued with grape skins for 14–24 days. Malolactic fermentation was performed with

natural organisms, mostly in barrique barrels. Ageing in barrels continued for 12

months, with 80% Hungarian oak barrels and 20% wooden casks. After blending, the cuvée was kept in tanks for ageing.

Serving temperature: 15–16 ̊C

Food pairing: It is a real Jolly Joker when it comes to food pairings, as the wine itself is complex and multifaceted. It goes well with heavier roasts or even a spicy vegetable stew.

Bottled quantity: 26.000 bottles

Cellar webshop retail price: 10–11 €

Awards:

Berliner Wine Trophy 2023: Gold medal

54th Villány Wine Contest 2024: Gold medal

VinAgora 2024: Gold medal

Story: The wine was named after Duke Montenuovo Nandor, who owned parts of our vineyards at the beginning of the 20th century.

About the label: We believe wine and art belong together. We asked seven contemporary Hungarian writers and poets to draw inspiration from the premium wines of Vylyan Winery. From the essence of poems and short stories the creating hand conjured up artistic drawings, and we now present the result to the world on the Vylyan bottles. The drawings reflect the soul of the wines on paper, as the artists see them. You can read here the story of Montenouvo.

This wine is a well-balanced blend with a golden mean between the full-bodied and the lively-fruity styles. Its bright, fruity upbeat is filled with diverse scents in which Bordeaux varieties come together in a harmonising accord completed with spiciness of the Syrah.
