Venison with blueberry and home made potato fritters

Bock Cellar in Villány wine region announced its recipe contest in December, and as they reported, loads of recipes arrived from all over the country, some from abroad, even from Norway. The aim of the competition was to find the ideal match for the 2008 vintage of Cabernet Franc based flagship blend of the cellar called Capella. The jury considered several criteria: originality, appearance, harmony of flavours, the overall impression and of course the meal had to fit the wine. They also checked if the meal is relatively easy to prepare.

Beef cheek with celery purée and roasted paprika jus, sent by Dávid Kisuti

The winner has received a weekend stay at Bock Hotel Ermitage for two persons and of course a bottle of Capella Cuvée, while the second and third also have received valuable Bock gifts.

Made from selections from Fekete-hegy Cabernet Franc (60%) and Jammertál Cabernet Sauvignon (30%) and Merlot (10%) matured for 24 months in new oak barrels. A full-bodied, concentrated wine with an incrediblewealth of aroma and depth of flavour. It is characterized by a deeply intense colour verging on black in which tobacco and milk chocolate appear alongside overripe fruit. Alongside the dried fruits, chocolate is a dominant element of its flavour.

Monde Selecton itself is not a wine contest, but a system of evaluating several types of consumer products. Every year 70 international experts taste and test products from all over the world in a completely independent way. Depending on the results, these products will be granted Quality Awards that certify the quality of the products for consumers. On the fringes of the label and quality control activities, Monde Selection organises its International Wine Contest every year in Brussels. The International Wine Contest of Monde Selection is recognised by the European Union and takes place under the control of the General Management – Control and Mediation – of the Federal Public Service Economy.

Capella – double gold for the melody of wine

This year 15 countries submitted samples, and Hungary is proud to have „only” the top results: 3 wines with 3 gold medals.

Gold medals:

Bock Capella Cuvée, Villány, 2011

Bock Capella Cuvée, Villány, 2012

Besenyei Borház, Egri Kékfrankos, Eger, 2013

Out of the 3 wines 2 belong to the same winery: Bock Cellar in Villány. Capella Cuvée is made only in good vintages, the selected Cabernet Franc and Merlot comes from ’Ördögárok’ (’Devil’s Ditch’) while Cabernet Sauvignon comes from Jammertal vineyard, and the wine is matured in new barrique for 24 months.

Congratulations!

Bock Cellar from the southern Villány wine region on Hungary is always full of ideas. Now, in the Advent period rare, exclusive wines are available from their webshop in very limited amount: only 6 bottles / wine. The name of the wine of the day is uncovered every day at noon, so collectors should be close to their keyboard at 12 o’clock not to miss the rare vintages of Royal Cuvée or Bock Cuvée wines.

Apart from the rare vintages, a unique accessory is made with the cooperation of Bock Cellar. A young designer craftman, Ádám Gajdos makes a peculiar designer belt of Italian cow hide. The 35 mm wide belt is decorated with stainless steel ornaments and is treated by Bock Capella Cuvée which gives a wonderful colour to the belt – and makes it durable as well. The belt is called Wine Way and it has a very limited production: only 20 pieces are made a month. A belt ’drinks’ 2 cl wine, therefore a bottle is enough for 33–39 belts. The unique accessories are made on order, in the proper size and with the name of the owner of the craft belt. A belt costs 122 euros.
