Some more reasons to visit the second largest town of Hungary

The contest was launched in 2015 and by not it has become a significant wine selection. This year 359 winesenetered the competition from 61 wineries in 17 wine regions of the country. Sol Montis Premium Olaszrizling 2021 is one of the seven selected wines to be featured in the best restaurants of Debrecen throughout the year 2023. The winners were announced on 14th December.

Oak aged single vineyard Olaszrizling

Sol Montis is a family winery in the second largest mountainous wine region of Hungary. Their Premium Olaszrizling is a single vineyard wine made of the crop of ‘Barnatanya’ vinayard meaning Brown Vinayard. After a few hours of soaking the must fermented under controll in stainless steel than it aged in oak barrel for 2 months. 13.4% alcohol, 3.1 g/L residual sugar and 5.5 g/ acidity. Floral notes with a hint of petrol and some almond – the typical varietal character of Olaszrizling. Creamy texture, medium plus body.

Debrecen – the 2nd largest city of Hungary

Debrecen is only one and a half hour’s drive from Budapest, or it is even better – when participating a wine tasting – to go by InterCity train. Debrecen has an international airport as well. Debrecen is the second most populous city in Hungary. It used to be the parlamentary city twice in the history. The city has several historical buildings worth seeing, and a must see spot is Déri Museum, where the tasting event takes place. The museum hosts paintings by Mihály Munkácsy, one of the most important Hungarian painters. In summer, the Flower Carnival of Debrecen attracts thousands of visitors.
