Terroir, vineyard: The Olaszrizing grape for this wine was harvested on Sabar hill, where the estate is situated. "A small hill with great wines" – as the slogan of Sabar Wine House refers to its terroir.

Harvest: In 2024 the harvest started extremely early, on 23 August, about three weeks earlier than usual. Plus, almost all the grapes ripened at the same time, thus this harvest was more than challenging. Strangely enough, the fermentation was slower.

Technology: The wine fermented and matured in stainless steel tank, bottling took place in the second half of January.

A refreshing, jolly wine that provides you with the necessary stamina for a hike, the obligatory item of every cool backpack, but its consumption without any special reason is absolutely recommended as well. Its moderate alcohol level is just enough to add an extra beat to your day, while the fresh green fruits keep you in a pleasant, vibrant flow. Juicy and pleasantly bitter, sweetish apple pie, uplifting citrus fruits, aftertaste with almond. This wine takes you up the peak!

Story: The name ‘Kéknyelű’ means ‘blue stalk’, it refers to the slightly blue tint of the petiole. Kéknyelű is quite likely of Hungarian origin. Very popular among the winemakers, though it is hard to cultivate. It ripens relatively late therefore it needs protection from the hungry games living in the forests of Badacsony and Szent György mountain. Planting alternate rows with a variety such as Budai Zöld encourages more consistent pollination. In good vintages it gives elegant wine with creamy structure and subtle, fine acidity. Rare grape variety that is capable of giving exceptionally high quality wines.

Purity, depth, dedication, arrival. At the different stages of experiencing, we begin sensing the fairy-like almond flowers – almond is a typical note of Olaszrizling variety. When smelling and tasting the wine, we can picture the enchanting petals dancing in the spring wind. Then we realise the depth, the layers of the wine with apricot and sweet spices followed by flint with a touch of smokiness. The aftertaste says goodbye with a pinch of bitterness reminiscent of apricot corn. It makes us thirsty for another glass.

Grape varieties: Cabernet Franc and Kékfrankos (Blaufrankisch), approximately 50-50%

Alcohol: 13%

Extract: 24.9 g/L

Terroir, vineyard: All the grape comes from our own vineyard on Sabar hill, from a single, 1.5-hectare plot with about 0.9 hectares Kékfrankos and 0.6 hectares Cabernet Franc.

Harvest and technology: Both varieties were harvested on the same day, on 29 September. The grapes were soaked on the skin for about two weeks with constant pumping over. After pressing half of it remained in stainless steel tank, while the other half went to barrels of different size and age to obtain a fruit driven wine. Bottling took place at the very end of July.

Serving temperature: 13–14 °C

Bottled quantity: 3684 bottles

Story of the label: As Gábor Ádám owner explained, the label is based on a black and white photo taken in 1940 in a vineyard on Sabar hill. A friend found the photo in the family archive, and the picture features a jolly picnic. In the background of the photo, we can see the old bush vines of the era.

Close your eyes and taste the wine. You will feel solemn tannins dressed in slivery pastel pink. The playful flavours are like ethereal dancers in feather-light dresses at an elegant ball, with passionate dance partners. Redcurrant, green-fleshed plum, fresh cherry. The base rhythm is given by the lavish acidity and the aftertaste gives to floor to a rounder, kinder tone. Vanilla, clove and a pinch of mischievous pepper. Now you can open your eyes. Oops, the wine has gone, hasn’t it?
