Story: This premium product of the winery is dedicated to a dayman of the owner’s grandfather. ‘Tivald’, the dayman was rather shabby in his look, and therefore he was despised
by the owner who was a child that time. János Eszterbauer, the owner of the winery was a naughty child who used to disturb this old man – of course now he regrets this naugh- tiness and therefore dedicates a premium wine to him as a kind of compense for the hard work Tivald had done.

Deep, dark colour. Medium intensity on the nose, but complex, full of black berry, blueberry, bitter chocolate and bonbon filled with cognac infused sour cherry. On the palate firm, but still pleasant tannins, pepper and Christmas spices. The alcohol is high, but the structure is still balanced, the wine is matured, complex, characteristic with beautiful bar- rel notes. Good lenght with a wide range of aromas.

His father (the owner’s great-great grandfather) was the judge of the town of Szekszárd (1867). However, the great grandfather was also a member of the representatives of the town in the 1910’s, a hostage of the communist re- gime in 1919, one of the founders of the nationwide famous and succesful Cellar Cooperative of Szekszárd (founded in 1929). And he was one of those grapegrowers (‘tüke’) of whom we inherited ‘bikavér’.

On the nose it has a ‘cool’ character, but at the same time it has an attractive frutiy-spicy note. Loads of sour cherries, a pleasure to take a sniff of them.
Story: ‘Tanyamacska’ is an old term for the guys who used to spend their time – even if they did not have to – in the winery. The main character in the photo (taken in the 1930-s) was mentioned in this name – and he happened to be the common great grandfather of the owner (János Eszterbauer) and the winemaker of Eszterbauer winery (László Pálinkás).

The Kékfrankos made in a typical Szekszárd style shows the excitement of the variety with the richness of fruits and acidity, but at the same time it reflects the mildness of the wine region. The wine has a long finish with a lot of fruit. The body is medium due to the vintage. Firm structure.

Story: The photo was shot at harvest in 1935 and depicts the ancestors of the owner on the mother side. In the middle ‘Aszalai brother-in-law’ can be seen, who had been a peasant and became a wine merchant. He put on a tie even for a harvest! The leasure guy on the horse is another brother- in-law called ‘Szöszke’ – who is in fact the grandfather of the winemaker of Eszterbauer, Laci Pálinkás. And of course the wifes are there as well , and the girls from Gránicz family
– and one of them is the grandmother of the owner, János Eszterbauer.

This Kadarka is meant for every day with its primary aromas. Light, spicy and its acidity is in perfect harmony with all the other ingredients. The nose is intensely spicy, deep and complex. On the palate the same spiciness takes the lead accompanied by beautiful, fresh, crispy red berries. Easy drinking summer refresh- ment that reminds us sour cherry syrup.
