3 medals goes to The Rosé King of Hungary

The results of the 4th International Rosé Championship were announced yesterday. This competition is held annually in Poland and it has been conceived and organised by Czas Wina, the biggest Polish wine magazine. The jury is more than impressive with Master of Wine and Master Sommelier experts from several countries and the president is probably the best person for this position: Elizabeth Gabay MW, the author of “Rosé – Understanding the pink wine revolution” and many other publications. This year the situation was complicate due to Covid and the tasting was postponed multiple times. As Elizabeth Gabay MW commented, this year more than 200 wines have been evaluated and the overall quality was very high. Only 22 gold medals have been given, and with this small number of gold medals we are proud to announce that Dúzsi Family Winery’s Cabernet Franc Rosé 2017 from Szekszárd has won a gold! For this unique wine the grapes were picked at the end of October, and some berries were affected by botrytis cinerea, therefore the wine has some botrytis. The majority of the wine was aged for 6 months in new, 300 L oak barrel, and a smaller portion was aged for 9 months. A full bodied, complex rosé wine with the characteristics of Cabernet Franc. Dúzsi winery has also received two silver medals: Dúzsi Cabernet Franc Rosé 2019 and Dúzsi Merlot Rosé 2017
