“Dreamworks” of wineries
What is a winemaker dreaming about? New, shiny stainless steel tanks? Fine French barrels? Electric train to carry vineyard visitors? New plantations to survive the climate change? A chopper stop for the wealthy guests?
1. In this category we expect articles to describe a winemaker’s dream, his needs, his plans for development – explaining why the estate would become a top, 21st century winery with those developments.
2. Another option is to introduce a state-of-art winery, a dream that has already come true. Explain why the estate is special, what extra features they can boast and how the winemaker achieved his goal.
Aromatic future
Lovely slopes, forest covered mountain sides, flowery meadows – Mátra is the perfect setting for children tales. And Mátra is also a land of young, ambitious and talented winemakers. The second largest wine region of Hungary has the potential to make vibrant red wines and complex white wines, but the most sold products are lighter bodied aromatic white wines made of Muscat Ottonel, Irsai Olivér, Traminer or other aromatic grape. In this category we expect articles, which introduce one or more aromatic varietals. Interviews, wine descriptions, food and wine pairing – anything can come. What we are looking for, is an article, which makes us grab a glass of aromatic wine, an article, which explains the merits of an aromatic wine in the best way. Also you can write about the potential of Mátra wine region, either by introducing a region with similar potentials or by suggesting ways of development for Mátra.
Unique wines born on volcanic soil
Does the soil or the grape varietal dominates? In ideal case those varieties are grown in a certain terroir, which conveys the merits of the soil in the best way. Tornai Winery is a multi award winner estate in the volcanic Somló wine region, apart from the iconic Juhfark they grow other indigenious grapes like Hárslevelű, Furmint or Olaszrizling.
In this category we are looking for articles introducing a volcanic wine region and its native grapes. We are curious how the interaction of grape and soil can create unique and unprecedented value. Which variety works best in a given wine region? Which volcanic wine region can serve as an example for others with some recent success story.
My first “love affair” with a Hungarian wine
Have you ever been impressed by a Hungarian wine? In what circumstances did you taste it? Why was it special? What did you learn about that wine, the winemaker, the wine region, the country? Tell us your story and send it to us. The most exciting, the most well writen piece will get the most scores from our jury members. There are no restrictions, you can write about any wine from any wine region – provided it is from Hungary.
As for the genre, again, there are no restrictions, what we would like to read the most, is an article that makes the readers thirsty for Hungarian wines.

A borászatok álomgyára
Miről álmodik egy borász? Új, csillogó tartályokról, a legszebb francia tölgyerdők fáiból készült hordóról? A klímaváltozás miatt melegtűrő új szőlőfajták telepítéséről? Aludobozos bor töltésére alkalmas gyártósorról? Helikopter-leszállóról az előkelő törzsvendégek számára? A panaszkodás nálunk népi sport, hát most tessék, lehetőséget adunk minden borásznak, hogy elmondja, mi hiányzik, mire vágyik, mi az, amitől sikeres lehetne a birtoka.
Ebben a kategóriában jó tollú borászok, marketingesek írásait várjuk, amelyben részletesen kifejtik, hogy pontosan mitől lehetne a borászat 21. századi csúcsbirtok. Természetesen borszakírók is nevezhetnek, ugyanúgy egy csúcsborászat vízióját várjuk egy konkrét borászatra szabva.
Illatos jövő
Szelíd lankák, erdő borította hegyoldalak, virágillatú rétek – mindannyiunk gyerekkori mesevilágának helyszíne a mátrai táj. Felnőve pedig rácsodálkozunk a sok mátrai fiatal, lendületes és tehetséges bortermelőre, akik megmutatják, hogy a főleg aromatikus borairól ismert Mátrára igencsak érdemes figyelni, ugyanis ezt a műfajt is lehet művészi fokon űzni.
Ebben a kategóriában olyan írásokat várunk, amelyek az illatos / aromatikus borokról szólnak, akár egyről, akár többről. Lehet interjú egy borásszal, borleírás, étel és bor párosítás – bármi. Azt az írást keressük, amely leginkább kedvet csinál egy pohár illatos borhoz, és amelyik legjobban bemutatja egy illatos szőlőfajta értékeit.
Ugyancsak ebben a kategóriában érkezhetnek olyan írások is, amelyek a Mátrai borvidék jövőjére tesznek javaslatot, akár egy másik hasonló adottságú borvidék sikereinek és a sikerhez vezető útnak a bemutatásával, akár a Mátra részletesebb elemzésével, a lehetőségek taglalásával.
Vulkanikus föld egyedi kincsei
Hogyan hoznak létre általános és egyedi értékeket vulkanikus borvidékek különleges fajtái? A somlói Tornai Pincészet elsősorban helyi fajtákra koncentrál, és filozófiájuk helyességét számos hazai és nemzetközi siker bizonyítja.
Ebben a kategóriában olyan írásokat várunk, amelyek főszereplője a Somló és a juhfark szőlőfajta. Mit tud a hegy és hogyan közvetíti ezeket az értékeket a fajta? Jó úton járnak-e a Somló szőlősgazdái vagy van-e még üdvözítőbb út?
A cikkek érkezhetnek bármilyen műfajban: interjú, riport, elemzés, tárca, étel és bor párosítás – mindegyiket várjuk, de kikötés, hogy a fókuszban a Somló és a juhfark legyen.
Ön is hirdeti a „magyar bor igéjét?”
Megesett már önnel, hogy megtréfált egy külföldi társaságot egy becsomagolt magyar borral, mert vakon bordeaux-inak, toszkánnak vagy más egyéb sztárnak hitték? Vitt már ajándékba magyar bort és várta csillogó szemekkel a megajándékozott reakcióját? Tartott már minikóstolót a világ valamely távoli zugában? Mesélje el nekünk!
Ebben a kategóriában olyan írásokat várunk, amelyekből kiderül, hogy milyen bort mutatott be, hogy készült az a bor, honnan származott, miért azt a bort választotta, hol, milyen helyzetben zajlott a kóstoló és milyen volt a bor fogadtatása. A legjobb történeteket keressük, amelyeket szerzője izgalmasan, érzékletesen mesél el nekünk.
Sánta Zoltán Emlékdíj
(A special award only for entries in Hungarian)
A 2018-ban hirtelen elhunyt Sánta Zoltán sokunk tanára és kollégája volt. Az Emlékdíjjal az ő szakmai öröksége előtt tisztelgünk már harmadik éve. Nem hiányzik kevésbé az idő múlásával… Mivel a tanítás, a jövő szakembereinek képzése a szenvedélye volt, az Emlékdíjat annak az ifjú tehetségnek szeretnénk adni, aki a 4.. Hungarian WebWineWriting mezőnyéből leginkább képviseli Zoltán szellemi örökségét. Az első Sánta Zoltán Emlékdíjat dr. Veszelszki Ágnes kapta 2019-ben, a másodikat Geri Ádám 2020-ban.
The prizes / A díjak
All category winner articles will be published on hungarianwines.eu.
All category winners will receive an electronic badge that they can place on their websites.
The absolute winner of the 4 categories in English language will receive a 4 day (3 nights) all inclusive trip to Hungary on 17–20 August 2021. The main prize includes the flight ticket from a European city to Budapest and back with one normal checked in suitcase, accommodation for 3 nights, 3 meals / day, transfers from and to the airport and between the program venues, and at least 3 exclusive winery visits.
In case the winner cannot travel due to COVID restrictions, another option will be offered for March 2022.
The other 2 category winners will also receive the same trip except from the flight ticket – in case they accept the price, flight ticket must be purchased by themselves.

Minden kategóriagyőztes kap egy hivatalos „elektronikus jelvényt”, amelyet feltehet a weboldalára.
A magyar nyelvű döntősök közül a legtöbb szavazatot elért abszolút győztes nyereménye egy négynapos (három éjszakás), all inclusive utazás Sant Sadurní d’Anoiába, a spanyol pezsgő, azaz a cava fővárosába 2021. október 1–4-én, az éves pezsgővesztivál, azaz a CavaTast idején. A fődíj tartalmazza a repülőjegyet Budapest és Barcelona között egy feladott normál poggyásszal, transzfert a programok között, szállást 3 éjszakára, háromszori étkezést, legalább 3 exkluzív pincelátogatást, illetve kóstolójegyeket a fesztiválra.

Process of the contest / A verseny menete
- Entry period lasts until 20 July 2021. Links of entered articles have to be submitted to the email address info@hungarianwines.eu not later than midnight on 20 July 2021. The email has to contain the link of the entered article, the name of the contestant, e-mail address and telephone number of the contestant.
- A confirming email will be sent to the applicant within 48 hours.
- Entered articles will be judged by the jury members listed at each category between 21–31 July 2021. Members of jury will make their judgement based on the main judging principles.
- 3 articles written in Hungarian and 3 articles written in English will become finalists in each category. Finalists will be announced on 1 August 2021 on this page. The name of the contestant, the title of the finalist article, the first sentence of the article and the link of the article will be posted.
- Voting period begins on 1 August and closes on 10 August 2021 at midnight. The contestant who receives the highest number of the votes until the end of the voting period will be the winner of the given category. Voting takes place on page this page. One person can vote only once.
- The contestant who receives the highest number of votes in all three categories in the given language will become the absolute winner. The main prize will go to the absolute winner of the 3 English language categories and to the absolute winner of the 3 Hungarian language categories – thus there will be two absolute winners.
- Award ceremony will take place on 19 August 2021 in Siklós at the Castle of Siklós, Hungary. Each finalist will receive invitation to the award ceremony.
- A versenyre 2021. július 20-ig várjuk a nevezéseket. A nevezéshez a nevezni kívánt cikk linkjét az info@hungarianwines.eue-mail címre kell megküldeni legkésőbb 2021. július 20-án éjfélig. Az e-mailben kérjük megadni a versenyző nevét, e-mail címét és telefonszámát.
- A nevezésről 48 órán belül visszaigazoló e-mailt küldünk.
- Az egyes kategóriákra érkezett írásokat a kategóriáknál megjelölt zsűritagok fogják bírálni 2021. július 21. és július 31-e között. A zsűritagok az írásokat a bírálati szempontok alapján értékelik.
- Kategóriánként 3 magyar és 3 angol nyelvű írás kerül a döntőbe, ezeket a cikk első mondatával és közvetlen linkkel, illetve a döntős nevével 2021. augusztus 1-jén tesszük közzé itt.
- Augusztus 1-től lehet szavazni a döntősökre. A szavazás 2021. augusztus 10-én éjfélkor zárul. Aki az egyes kategóriákban a szavazás végéig a legtöbb szavazatot gyűjti, az lesz az adott kategória győztese. A szavazás itt történik. Egy ember egyszer szavazhat.
- Aki mindhárom magyar, illetve mindhárom angol nyelvű kategóriát együttvéve a legtöbb szavazatot gyűjti be a szavazás végéig, az lesz az abszolút magyar, illetve az abszolút angol nyelvű győztes, ők ketten kapják meg a fődíjat.
- A díjátadóra 2021. augusztus 19-én kerül sor a 4. Hungarianwines Gettogether rendezvény keretében a Siklósi Várban. A díjátadóra minden döntős meghívást kap
The rules of the contest / A verseny szabályzata
- The organizer of the contest is the owner of hungarianwines.eu (Ágnes Németh, VAT number: ESY5049199T)
- This not a blog or website contest, thus not blogs, but articles compete. We are looking for the best online wine writers.
- Articles can be entered if they are relevant to any of the given categories.
- The entered article cannot be longer than 10 000 characters with spaces. There is no minimum character restriction.
- An applicant can enter 1 article per category, therefore if he enters in each category, he can enter a maximum of 3 articles.
- The article has to be online on a functioning website. The profile of the website or blog is not relevant in terms of the contest, therefore the entered article can be published on a non-wine related website as well.
- Everybody can enter the competition, however the name of the author must appear with the article online. Articles posted with a nickname cannot enter.
- Articles must be published between 31 July 2019 and 31 July 2021.
- In case the absolute winner does not respond the winner announcement e-mail and does not take a phone call from the organizer until 12 August, the prize will automatically go to the person with the second highest number of votes.
- The entered articles must be available online on the entered link until at least 30 September 2021.
- Prizes are non-transferable and cannot be converted into cash.
- The main prize contains what is listed at the description of the main prize. Other costs must be paid by the winner (therefore he is responsible for his travel insurance).
- Finalists can receive their prizes at the award ceremony. If they are not present at the event, prizes will be sent by post.
- Hungarianwines.eu and the sponsors of the contest are entitled to use the name and the photo of the finalists in relation with the contest.
- Contestants accept the rules of the contest by entering the contest.

- Ez nem egy blogverseny, tehát nem a blogok vagy weboldalak, hanem az írások versenyeznek.
- Nevezni olyan írással lehet, amely megfelel a kategória témájának.
- A nevezett írás maximális terjedelme 10 000 karakter space-ekkel. Minimális terjedelmi megkötés nincs.
- Egy szerző 1 kategóriában maximum 1 írással nevezhet, tehát ha mindhárom kategóriában indul, akkor maximum 3 írással nevezhet.
- A nevezés feltétele, hogy az írás online megjelent legyen egy működő weboldalon. A weboldal tematikája a verseny szempontjából nem releváns, tehát nemcsak boros tematikájú weboldalon megjelent írásokkal lehet nevezni.
- A versenyre bárki nevezhet, nincs semmilyen megkötés, a nevezett cikknél azonban fel kell tüntetni a szerző teljes nevét, álnévvel megjelölt írással nem lehet nevezni.
- A versenyre olyan írásokkal lehet nevezni, amelyek 2019. július 31. és 2021. július 31-e között jelentek meg.
- Amennyiben az abszolút győztes nem válaszol a megadott e-mail címre küldött értesítésre, illetve nem elérhető a megadott telefonszámon augusztus 12-ig, a fődíj automatikusan átszáll az abszolút második helyezettre.
- A nevezett írásoknak legalább 2021. szeptember 30-ig elérhetőleg kell lennie a nevezéskor megadott linken.
- A díjak nem átruházhatók, készpénzre nem válthatók.
- A fődíj a díj leírásánál felsoroltakat tartalmazza, az egyéb felmerülő költségek a győztest terhelik, így például maga köt utasbiztosítást.
- A döntősök a tárgynyereményeket személyesen vehetik át a díjátadó rendezvényen, illetve akadályoztatás esetén postázzuk részükre.
- A hungarianwines.eu, illetve a támogatók jogosultak használni a döntősök és győztesek nevét és fotóit a versennyel való összefüggésben.
- A versenyzők a nevezéssel elfogadják a verseny szabályzatát.
Main judging aspects / A bírálás szempont
- Members of the jury examine if the entered article complies with the topic of the category.
- The length of the article is not relevant (though it must not exceed 10 000 characters with spaces), however longer is not necessarily better. Jury members will see how the entered article maintains attention.
- The article must be original, easy to read and entertaining.
- The article must be professional and contain correct data and information.
- The style of the article is also taken into consideration, and must not contain grammatical or spelling mistakes.
- The jury will examine how much the article raises interest for the given topic.
- Illustration of the article and layout of the blog or website is not relevant: we are not looking for the best blogs, but the best writers.
- A zsűritagok vizsgálják, hogy a nevezett írás kimeríti-e a kategória tematikáját.
- A terjedelem a maximális 10 000 karakterig bármekkora lehet, azonban a hosszabb nem feltétlen jobb: a zsűritagok azt is nézik, hogy az írás mennyire tartja fenn az olvasó figyelmét.
- Fontos, hogy az írás eredeti legyen, olvasmányos és élvezetes.
- Fontos, hogy az írás szakmailag megalapozott és alapos legyen.
- Bírálati szempont, hogy az írás stilisztikailag is minőségi legyen, ne legyenek benne nyelvhelyességi vagy helyesírási hibák.
- A bírálatkor szempont, hogy az írás kedvet csináljon az írásban főszereplő borhoz.
- Az írás illusztrációja és a weboldal layoutja nem releváns a bírálat szempontjából, nem a legjobb blogot, hanem a legjobb borszakírót keressük.
