Etyeki Kúria Sparkling Sauvignon Blanc

Happy Sauvignon Blanc Day!

6 May 2022 – time to pour your Sauv Blanc

International SauvBlancDay was initiated by a Napa winery in 2010 and now the campaign is backed by New Zealand Wine. Hungary is well located to produce beautiful Sauvignon Blanc wines, especially in the cooler climate wine regions. Let’s celebrate with a unique Sparkling Sauvignon Blanc by Etyeki Kúria!

Mundus Vini gold winner (2020, winter edition) Sparkling Sauvignon Blanc is the favourite product of Sándor Mérész, head winemaker of Etyeki Kúria. Etyek, a cool climate wine region next to the capital of Hungary is working on its new denomination of bottle fermented sparkling wines, the so called Etyeki Pezsgő (Sparkling Wines of Etyek) – see Adrian van Velsen Swiss wine writer’s recent article on the topic.

Etyeki Kúria, a cutting edge winery is fond of sparklings as well, this one is a special one vinified with a method similar to that of Asti. “A variety dear to our heart, a restless winemaker and an experiment: we fermented the Sauvignon Blanc must in tank, aged it for two months on fine lees. The result: brut sparkling wine, fruitiness captured in a bottle.” It pairs well with lemon pie or trout dishes.

Sparkling Sauvignon can be tasted free of charge at the winery in May!
