Girls, they wanna have fun – and Lajver!

80% of wines are purchased by women in the UK (Women and Wine Study by Vinexpo) – cites the press release of Women’s Wine & Spirits Awards 2021. This international competition operates ONLY with female buyers in the jury, which gives a special value to the medals won here. And Hungary is on the medal board! Holdvölgy Intuition No1 2013 from Tokaj won double gold, while Lajver Wine Estate from Szekszárd entered two wines, and both received gold medal!

Two luscious red wines

“Considering the significant rise in interest of women for the wine world, I am certain that it is of great importance for wine producers to acknowledge the value of female buyers giving beneficial insight into the market” – commented Dalia Leitenberg (Shangri-La Group), one of the 100 female buyers and hoteliers, who judged the thousands of entered wines of the 4th annual Hong Kong contest. Well, let us use the beneficial insight of them, and taste these wonderful wines!

Lajver Cabernet Sauvignon Limited Edition 2017

Lajver is a wonderful, state-of-art estate making pure, spotless wines with true Szekszárd character. This 100% Cabernet Sauvignon fermented in stainless steel and aged in French and Hungarian oak barrel for 12 months. An intense, tannic, full bodied wine with black berry fruits and sweet spices. Long ageing potential. Limited – indeed, only 1179 bottles were made.

Lajver Pinot Noir Limited Edition 2017

Lajver grapes ripen in the beautiful valley of Lajver brook, on terraces with south facing slopes. After thorough manual bunch selection the wine fermented in stainless steel and then aged in 500 L Hungarian and French oak (first and second use) for 16 months. Enchanting aromas of red berry fruits, soft tannins, vibrant acidity. Subtle, ethereal and utterly elegant. Only 1331 bottles were made.
