New Image for Szekszárd
The Szekszárd wine region has decided on a new image following a successful tender. The new image is youthful and modern but at the same time it embraces the traditions of the region. The winning bid was chosen by a jury made up of representatives of the wine region and experts delegated by ArtHungry.com the agency responsible for the tendering process.
Following a 17 day creative period the applicants were required to upload their designs to the website of ArtHungry.com by the 28 October 2016. The jury then evaluated the entries and decided on the winning bid. Members of public also had the chance to vote for their favourite works until the 20 November 2016.
Attila Auth, Adjunct Professor at the Hungarian University of Fine Arts, Eszter Laki graphic designer, José Tábori-Simonartistic director at ArtHungry.com, János Eszterbauer winemaker and President of Szekszárd Winemakers Guild, Zoltán Heimann Jr. winemaker and Péter Vida Jr. winemaker.
The winner of the tender and the winner of the public vote was announced on the 21 November. The exclusive awards ceremony was held at the Hygge Events Hall where guests also had the chance to get a taste of Szekszárd wines.
The tender was awarded to Krisztián Lakosi and Dániel Nagy. The winners (and recipients of HUF 500.000) shall continue to work on the new image in cooperation with the wine region. The winners of the Citizens’ Award are Bianka Kun and Franciska Juhász with 170 votes cast online on the website of ArtHungry.com. The prize for the winners is a weekend in the Szekszárd wine region complete with wine tasting and visits to the vineyards.
Representing the Szekszárd Winemakers Guild Zoltán Heimann Jr. explained the importance of the tender: „The new image is one of the cornerstones of the communications strategy of the Szekszárd wine region. In the selection process we were looking for an image that is easy to recognize, has long lasting appeal and is uncomplicated. These criteria were best satisfied by the work of Krisztián Lakosi and Dániel Nagy. Now it is our responsibility and mission to make good use of the new image: work on the new map of the wine region is well on its way and we want to make the three wines with the new Szekszárd bottle (Szekszárd Bull’s Blood, Kadarka and Kékfrankos) more widely known. Our goal is to attain European standards both in terms of quality for our wines and in communications for our wine region.”
José Tábori-Simon artistic director at ArtHungry.com the agency responsible for the bidding process believes that it was the right decision to opt for open tendering: „We were delighted to see that among the 140 or so designs uploaded to our website many have achieved high artistic standards. The requirement to present the works on a professional social media site has also worked. Initially the jury chose 9 designs from a shortlist of 30 and then proceeded to narrow the list to 2 designs; the final decision was then handed over to the Szekszárd Winemakers Guild. In my opinion the Szekszárd wine region has finally got a cool and modern image with a striking, distinctive symbol.”
