Open cellar doors on St Martin’s Day

The patron of geese and new vintage wines is celebrated all over Hungary on 9 November. St Martin Wine Festival in Budapest is a good opportunity to taste all new wine from all over the country, but it is also worth travelling to the wine regions, because at this weekend most cellar doors will be open without previous appointment. In Pannonhalma wine region a bus service is provided (for about 8 euros) to take participants from one cellar to the other. The first bus leaves from Hotel Famulus at 10.00, the last leaves at 18.00. Seven wineries are included in the program including Babarczi Family Winery, where visitors can taste 5 Babarczi wines with some delicious bread & goose liver paté, bread with lard and bread with pork cracklings spread. Babarczi family will surely make visitors feel at home in their home, and you will fall in love with the juicy Irsai Olivér, the elegant Chardonnay, the dignified Olaszrizling, the fruity rosé or their new venture, the Kékfrankos.
