Meet the winemaker of the Happy Grape!

Csaba Koch has created his own concept of grape growing called Happy Grape. The basic principle is to let the grape grow as it wants and reduce canopy work as much as possible.

Nomen est omen: Chris Boiling, editor in chief of Canopy magazine, the publication of International Wine Challenge featured a detailed article about the whole method.

Koch Winery will participate in Hungarian Gettogether, the “garden party of Hungarian wine people” on 16th August and hopefully visitors can meet the owner, Csaba Koch personally. Csaba holds the title Winemaker of the Year 2019 and his wines have collected countless medals. He also received

Winery of the Year award and last year he was chosen The Most Successful Winery at the 40th National Wine Contest.

His daughter, Pálma Koch is at the beginning of her wine career, but this career is a really promising one, we have recently written about her studies, her experiences in South Africa and her first wine.

Koch Winery has vineyards in two wine regions: Hajós–Baja and Villány. In Hajós–Baja Kadarka is one of the most important grapes, and the winery makes several Kadarka wines with different ageing. In Villány the Bordeaux blends are the most successful, Koch Csanád Cuvée is the favourite of many red wine fanatics.

Wine professionals and devoted wine connoisseurs are invited to Hungarian Gettogether, to this relaxed, outdoor event – with social distance, of course. In Hungary events under 500 people are allowed, and at Gettogether we expect 300 people maximum in the large, beautiful garden and open hall of Patricius Winery in Tokaj wine region. If you are interested, write to us to info@hungarianwines.eu. Most EU citizens are allowed to enter Hungary without restrictions, but before travelling consult Reopen Europa website for the latest information.
