One of the oldest wineries in Villány, Hungary’s top red wine region. Taste their amazing Ermitage Cuvée, the most popular wine of the cellar. Made from grape varieties from the most beautiful vineyards in the Villány wine region, a cuvee of Merlot, Pinot Noir, Portugieser, Kékfrankos and Syrah built upon a base of Cabernet. It is matured in large oak barrels (70%) and used barrique barrels (30%) for 12 months. A wine characterized by its medium dark intensity and colour verging on the garnet-red paired with lightly spiced, red-fleshed fruits. The bitterness of the sour cherry with a light chocolate aftertaste can be sensed in its flavour.

A relatively new winery, which hit the top of every wine chart rapidly. Sabar vineyards are situated on the volcanic soils of Badacsony wine region. Their single vineyard Hegyvölgy Rhine Riesling is just amazing: not overwhelmingly intensive on the nose, but it shows beautiful summer apples, peach, white flowers, sweet citrus fruits, mandarin then later a rosemary – green herb character appears. Zesty acidity and residual sugar makes it a playful, vivid wine. Juicy, lovely palate with also sweet citrus fruits, summer apples and peach. Long ageing potential.

The family winery can be found in the smallest winer region of Hungary, the volcanic Somló region. Their international top awards and gold medals are hard to list, one of their most important achievements are the Trophies of International Wine Challenge in three consecutive years! Their Aranyhegy Juhfark is a great example from Somló. True terroir wine, through which reflects very well the power of Somló. Plenty of minerality on the nose, harmonious fruit in the background in combination with oakiness. Very rich on the palate, compact. The character of the soil is well mirrored, which is enriched by the oaky and very rich on the palate, compact. The character of the soil is well mirrored, which is enriched by the oaky and ripe fruit flavours in the backdrop.

The winery produces probably the most elegant Pinot Noir in Villány, they have great Villányi Franc, fruity, lovely Kékfrankos, but you can also try their entry level, easy going Macska (’Cat’), which is made of indigenous Portugieser grape. A thirst-quenchingly fruity, nice, and easygoing wine that “purrs” and flatters – a wine that feels good to drink every day . The varietal specific red berries on the nose are rounded off by a combination of sour cherry, plum and sloe on the palate. Its tannins are soft and velvety.

The family winery has vineyards in Villány and Somló as well, but the most important vineyards are situated in Mád, in the most important village of Tokaj region. It is a must to taste their indigenous Tokaji Hárslevelű! The wine was fermented spontaneously and aged in traditional Tokaj barrel. Medium gold colour. Typical linden flower on the nose with peach and citrus notes. It’s really refreshing on the palate: crispy acidity, fruitiness and a hint of minerality from the terroir.
