Juliet Victor Double Gold at prestigious Sakura Award

International Women’s Day is coming closer, thus why not celebrating with a fabulous dessert wine, which was selected a double gold winner by exclusively women wine experts at Japanese Sakura wine contest! Sakura Women’s Wine Awards 2019 has received 4326 entries from 34 countries, and only 6% of the samples could achieve gouble gold, Juliet Victor is one of the few double gold winners, and the only medal winner wine from Hungary. „This is a huge success for our winery, because the wine is from our very first vintage, and it proves our mission statement that Juliet Victor’s aim is to redefine the image of Hungarian wines, especially Tokaj wines in the world”– said József Váradi, the owner of Juliet Victor.

It’s a women’s world

Sakura wine contest was founded in 2013 by Yumi Tanabe, and it is one of the few international wine contests where the jury consists of women only. Japan is an important market with increasing wine consumption, and since women buy and consume more wines than men, their opinion is most important. Japan boasts the second highest number of qualified sommeliers after France (25 175 sommeliers, 10 903 of them are women (43%). As for the qualified wine experts more than half of them are women (13 966 experts, 8422 of them are women (60%). At Sakura 510 women wine experts, sommeliers participated.

The winner JV Szamorodni at better price now!

The winery offers the double gold winner JV Szamorodni 2016 at special price until the 1st of April: 12 690 HUF instead of 14 990 HUF (around 39 euros instead of 46 euros). The grapes come from legendary Betsek and Király vineyards around the village of Mád, hand harvested in several section with bunch selection. 50% of the bunches consist of botrytised shrivelled berries. Healthy and shrivelled berries were pressed together, fermentation took place in wooden barrels, ageing in first use, light toasted barrique made by Kádár Hungary Ltd. (of local ‘Zemplén’ oak) for 12 months. „Crystal clear golden colour with bright gold reflections. High viscosity, noble full body. Clear, developed, intense nose with sweet, luscious, vibrant apricot, savoury apple, silky vanilla, velvety white chocolate and discrete liquor notes – all of them appear in turn besides the botrytis typical of Tokaj wine region. Sweet palate with refreshing acidity. Candied citrus fruits, fully ripened apple and tea notes make the pleasure of the prolonged, exceptional taste more complex. Not only a wine with enchanting colour and stunning character, but with perfect elegance and long ageing potential.”Ideal with roasted foie gras with pear!
