Tomi Dúzsi at Borsó delicate shop

Tamás Dúzsi junior (thus called ’Tomi’) is a real world citizen, in fact it is hard to find him standing still. He is always on the move, a real wine ambassador of Hungary, and of course of his family winery led by his father, Tamás Dúzsi senior. Tomi speaks more languages than many of us (English, French, Portugese, Chinese and for sure he speaks some German and who knows what other languages…), and his charming personality gets him thousands of friends all over the world. On Saturday, 17 November he welcomes everyone in Borsó delicate shop from 4 pm. The winery has an extremely wide portfolio, so he could not pick only one wine again, he will show much more, for example: Olaszrizling, Menoire, Rosé, Kékfrankos, Bikavér, Birtokbor (Estate Wine), Pinot Noir and Cabernet Sauvignon. Just a few wines… Menoir is not common at all, therefore to taste this unique wine is obligatory: „Aromas of pure fruit flavors, particularly cherries and blackberries and a sense of spiciness: eucalyptus and red pepper are also displayed. Dry palate with a light body & vibrant acidity this wine shows a fine tannic structure with elegance & balance.”

Borsó – Die Ungarische Speisekammer (Wilmersdorferstraße 152, 10585 Berlin)

Borsó delicate: its ’hurka’ season!

The small delicate shop offers all what Hungarian immigrants would lack far from their home land, but we strongly advise anyone to taste these delicacies, starting with ’hurka’, a kind of fresh sausage made of pork meat & paprika, pork liver & marjoram or pork blood. The so called ’hurka’ is a typical winter meal, it needs to be cooked and because it is rather fatty, you will need a wine with high acidity, and because of the spices, a complex wine is necessary. Borsó has a wide selection of Hungarian wineries apart from the above mentioned Dúzsi, so you can try for example Thummerer Egri Bikavér Classicus from Eger, with 40% Kékfrankos this spicy, complex wine will well pair with the pork feast.

Christmas candies’ with Tokaji Aszú

In Hungary we decorate our Christmas trees with ’szaloncukor’ (literally translated ’saloon candies’), these are usually pralines with different flavours coated with chocolate. Marzipan filling is delicious. Borsó delicate shop offers Christmas candies as well, why not pair it with the best sweet wine of the world? Of course we are thinking of Tokaji Aszú, for example by Sauska Tokaj. 2013 6 puttonyos was describes as follows: “This wine is really is off the charts with its pulsating aromas and flavours! The beautiful nose has pronounced notes of tangerine and other citrus fruit that herald a wine crackling with energy. The palate is hugely sweet, silky and extremely concentrated with gorgeous notes of nuts, apples and dried apricots. Its prodigious spicy length and balance make it a hedonistic pleasure to drink right now.”
