Coda di pecora – ‘Juhfark’ in the eye of an Italian

Davide Bortone, the editor in chief of Winemag.it has been stuck in Hungary, and though it must be hard for him, we are happy with the situation, because ha has been writing great and informative articles about Hungarian wines. His latest piece is a comprehensive guide to Juhfark grape (literally sheep’s tail, coda di pecora in Italian), the indigenious variety of volcanic Somló wine region. He has tasted 26 Juhfark wines, mostly from Somló, and he gave 90 points or more to 9 wines: Nagy-Somlói Prémium Juhfark 2019 (Tornai, 90 pts), Nagy-Somlói Juhfark 2017 (Somlói Apátsági Pince, 93 pts), Juhfark 2018 (Somlói Vándor, 92 pts), Juhfark 2018 Teraszok (Somlói Vándor, 90 pts), Juhfark 2018 (Somlói Apátsági Pince, 94 pts), Top Selection Grófi Juhfark 2017 (Tornai, 93 pts), Nagy Somlói Juhfark 2017 (Spiegelberg, 90 pts), Juhfark 2011 (Royal Somló, 92 pts), Juhfark bio 2017 (Dobosi, 90 pts.)
