Feind Winery

The beginnings

Lajos Feind founded the winery in 1995, when he bought 14 hectares of vineyards close to Lake Balaton. At that time it was only grape growing, but it set the path towards the establishment of a winery. Within 25 years he expanded the estate to 130 hectares of vineyards. Most of them are situated in Öreg-hegy (‘Old Mountain’) in Balatonfőkajár, but also in Balatonvilágos, Balatonaliga and Balatonfüred, thus all of the plantations are part of Balatonfüred–Csopak wine region.

Istvan

A new era

In January 2019 Lajos Feind handed over the management of the estate to his son, Zoltán Feind and his executive manager, István Bacskai. According to the the judgement of the new managers, the plant had long outgrown itself, so they decided to build a 2000 m2 processing plant just outside the town of Balatonfőkajár. It was a complete investment, so from the processing of the grapes to the pressing and bottling of the wine, everything can now be done under one roof.

Feind Olaszrizling 2022

Olaszrizling made with reductive technology. The nose reveals floral notes including mignonette (Reseda odorata), while the palate features almond, the typical note of the variety. Easy drinking, easy going wine for weekdays. By itself or in a ‘spritzer’ (the popular Hungarian summer drink of wine and sparkling water in different proportions).

Feind Chardonnay 2022

A light and easy Chardonnay from ‘Öreghegy’ (‘Old Hill’) of Balatonfőkajár village with all the characteristics of the variety. The nose recalls fresh citrus / tropical fruits and peach, and these notes return nicely in the sip along with lifting, lovely acidity.

Feind Chardonnay Batonnage 2022

A novelty in our range of wines. Fermented partially in barrique and aged on fine lees for 10 months. A characteristic white wine in which the well-integrated wood meets the luscious notes of citrus fruits, pineapple and some hazelnut. It has a great ageing potential and it is an ideal partner for the most special moments.

Feind Királyleányka 2022

Intense, pronounced nose dominated by the grape flower, citrus and honey notes typical of the variety. Some tropical fruit hints can also be discovered. Vibrant, fresh acidity nicely balanced with the little residual sugar. A bright, straw yellow coloured wine, perfect by itself and also in ‘spritzer’, the popular Hungarian summer drink (wine + sparkling water in various proportions).

Feind Berekszél Rhine Riesling 2022

Light and ethereal, like the breeze from Lake Balaton in Berekszél vineyard carrying the scent of linden and acacia trees. Taking a sip is like taking a bite of a juicy, white-fleshed peach. A wine of limited quantity.

Feind Cabernet Rosé 2023

Crispy, fruity, refreshing – it has everything we expect from a rosé wine. Both the nose and the palate are abundant in strawberry and raspberry notes. In gastronomy it is a true jolly joker: it pairs well with most dishes. A thirst quenching, juicy, attractive rosé.

In 2019 we harvested outstanding fruit from Öreghegy (‘Old Hill’) in the village of Balatonfőkajár. It fermented in stainless steel and aged exclusively in American oak (barrique) for 15 months. Mediterranean style nose featuring Provence spices, whereas the palate reveals some of the spices along with ripened red fruits. Full bodied, complex wine with serious ageing potential.
