
Homola: the most loved brand of a “speed dating” session
Meet Homola at Wine Paris and ProWein
At the last edition of Winelovers Wine Awards international competition, the organisers launched a Buyers’ Program, which proved to be successful. More than a dozen importers / distributors were speed dating with the participating wineries, each encounter had to be done within 10 minutes. Half a year has passed, the organisers surveyed the buyers, and it turned out that the most successful winery was Homola Winery from Balatonfüred–Csopak wine region, Homola shipments have left–among others–to Taiwan and the USA.

Fruits of the unique red soil
Zsombor Gál export manager always carries a piece of soil with him, a fistful of the red soil typical of Balatonfüred wine region. However, their terroir is not as simple as that, basalt tuff, marl and clay also play roles. Many of the wines are unfiltered and unfined. The portfolio includes refreshing white summer wines and complex, varietal white and red wines of both international and indigenous varieties. A bottle fermented sparkling wine is made of Furmint.


Basic info about Homola
Homola Winery is cultivating in the best vineyards of Csopak grape growing area, on 15 hectares of its own land, which is currently undergoing organic conversion. The natural approach is becoming increasingly important in the life of the winery, the wines are made with minimal intervention, long ageing, most of the wines are unfiltered and unrefined. The primary grape variety is Olaszrizling, with the addition of Riesling, while other important grape varieties include Kékfrankos, Sauvignon Blanc and Syrah, and there is an increasing focus on traditional method sparkling wines. The wines of Homola Winery are the result of the joint efforts of the owner Szabolcs Homola and Attila Homonna, head winemaker.
