Jubilee Kékfrankos – 35 years in Eger

Tóth Ferenc Winery was founded 35 years agoin Eger wine region, and to commemorate the beginning of their life passion, the family winery decided to choose a special wine. Kékfrankos is the most important grape variety in Hungary, and it has a special importance for Tóth Ferenc Winery as well. They have 5 hectares (out of 26) in 4 different vineyards. Síkhegy is the most precious of them, Superior and Grand Superior Bikavér wines are made from fruit of this vineyard. „Tornyos” (Towery) Superior Kékfrankos, the jubilee wine was also made from grapes from Síkhegy vineyard, harvested after the 21st October in 2013. Some berries were already shrivelled, they were macerated together with the other fully ripened berries. The wine matured in second use 5 hl oak barrel for 4 years. The resulting wine is complex and full bodied, opens with leathery notes, then chocolate, cognac and marzipan follow. Sour cherry liqueur and clove. Velvety tannins, rounded acidity. Ideal with dark chocolate. The wine is available from Tóth Ferenc Winery webshop for 8500 HUF (26.60 euros).
