Mild winter is risky – keep our fingers crossed!

As Laposa Estate reported from Badacsony wine region, weather forecast gives hope for a good vintage. Vine plant is usually in a state of rest in winter – at least in our continental climate –, and vegetation starts again in March, when temperature is above +7 Celsius – normally. Though this year December and first part of January was unusually mild, a cold wave arrived in mid January, so at the moment we are still within the boundaries of the grape’s ability to adapt to the weather conditions. Laposa Estate hopes that unusual mild temperature will not return in the upcoming week – and as weather forecasts say winter stays winter for the rest of January. And, after all, as we remember, there were mild winters when one survived without boots, and still there was enough fruit to harvest... Cheers on the hope!
