Leading wine magazine called VinCE has selected new release Lajver FRANK 2017 as Best Value Wine of the Month. Sprinkling young guys will probably be happier with a glass of Frankos than with the traditional Easter egg…

In Hungary the folk custom to sprinkle girls and women is still practiced, though nowadays a sniff of parfume is used instead of the bucket of cold water. In return the sprinkled ladies give eggs, chocolate and of course a glass of wine or ‘pálinka’. (This latter one is distilled fruit, Lajver Wine Estate makes pálinka of Cserszegi Fűszeres grape.)

Lajver Wine Estate is situated in Szekszárd wine region, and this state-of-art winery makes wines in every price segment, always with great value. Lajver FRANK 2017 is a new release made of 100% Cabernet Franc, and at VinCE panel tasting it received 4 stars with 16.40 points (out of 20). The must was fermented in stainless steel tank and part of it aged in barrel for 12 months.

“Dark ruby with some granite shade. Intense, developing nose rich in spices, earthy and picante aromas. Quite complex wine, full on the palate. Abundant in red fruits with oaky tones. Good balance, good concentration and lovely, vibrant acidity.” And it costs only 1890 HUF – around 5 euros.
