The largest sparkling tasting of the year in Budapest

On 22 June glamorous five star Corinthia Hotel Budapest will be even more glamorous hosting around 200 sparkling wines from Hungary, Austria, France, Spain, Germany and also from the New World. Two masterclasses are held: one with 11 champagnes from the top houses (Les Grandes Marques) and another one about grape varieties used for sparkling wines outside Champagne (Olaszrizling, Grüner Veltliner, Chenin Blanc and others). As for the exhibitors, visitors can meet producers from all over Hungary. Haraszthy (Etyek) and Taschner Sopron) makes ’pezsgő’ (the Hungarian word for sparkling wine) of Chardonnay, while Frittmann from Kunság wine region uses Ezerjó, an indigenous variety for their Gold sparkling. Garamvári Winery makes bottle fermented sparkling from a whole range of varieties, Vencel Garamvári was the first to use Furmint from Tokaj for sparkling. Altogether 40 Hungarian wineries will exhibit, plus 170 foreign sparkling wines will be available for tasting (for champagne samples a supplement ticket is needed.)
