Dr Gabriella Mészáros leading Hungarian wine writer has recently published an article about Villány. She highlighted only two wines, one of them is Terra Tartaro by Heumann Winery. When you want another glass
Dr Gabriella Mészáros has been a wine educator for decades, many Hungarian wine experts learnt the basics (and much more) at her and her husband’s wine school. In her recent article with Heumann Terra Tartaro she quotes a winemaker, who believes that the so called “comfort of swallow” is an obvious indicator of a great wine: when you enjoy swallowing it and you want another one. “This wine has firmstructure, yet it is easy to fall in love with it. It is concentrated and long, yet it has subtle aroma profile. Abundant in spices: nutmeg, star anise, cayenne pepper and a hint of mint. Luscious and unique.” – adds Gabriella Mészáros.
Terra Tartaro 2018
At Wine Paris visitors can taste the current vintage of the wine. The wine is made of 70% Cabernet Sauvignon, 15% Merlot and 15% Cabernet Franc, from 15–30-year-old vines. The soil is mainly loess with high proportion of limestone.
Destemmed, alcoholic fermentation and malolactic fermentation in temperature-controlled steel tanks at 28-30° C; matured in Hungarian barriques (225 l) and tonneau (500 l) for 24 months.
