Dominium Winery and Guest House

“Let’s go to the Mátra!” – that’s what more and more people say today when they think of a weekend getaway or a team-building event for all needs. In addition to the natural features, the wines and the hospitality are at a premium level here without exaggeration. And Gyöngyös, the “gateway to Mátra”, just over an hour from Budapest, is the perfect stop if you want to see Mátra from all sides.
Dominium Winery in particular has done and continues to do a lot to ensure that we talk about Gyöngyös and Mátra wines at the highest possible level. Their wines win gold medals year after year and at the winery they don’t just talk about a sustainable future: they are now officially an organic winery.
From the very beginning, Dani Orbán and his family have built the estate in Mátra so that guests can taste more than “just” excellent wines. More than 10 years since the first steps were taken and as a result of the conscious construction, today you will find yourself in an estate centre that meets all your needs, where you will not only find wine tasting, a cellar visit and a gourmet cold platter, but much more.

Oasis of well-being in the mountainous Mátra
There’s nothing better than walking up to your room after a good night’s wine tasting and getting a good night’s sleep. You don’t have to worry about a driver, a ride or even the timetable of the long-distance bus or the little train that stops in front of the Dominium. Guests can relax in 8 modern and rooms on the property designed to meet all requirements. The rooms with mountain views are perfect for relaxing, and the sauna house with view of the vineyards and the Mátra, as well as the jacuzzi, available all year round, will all enhance the quality of your stay.
Dominium has created the concept of “Mátra well-being”! In addition to the above, they offer a generous buffet breakfast and a hearty gourmet cold dish after tasting the award-winning organic wines. And there is more.

Conference and/or team building? You’ve come to the right place!
Dani and his family thought not only of family and friends, but also of companies when they dreamed up their own wine estate in Mátra. The 50-seat wine-tasting room is suitable for larger groups, but if more serious topics need to be discussed before the fabulous Mátra wine specialities, the 50-seat conference room is perfect for this purpose. Smaller and larger team-builders can help to connect on the estate with various games, but experts on nearby hiking and cycling trails are also to be found here.

Party until sunrise by the vines
There are hardly any more beautiful settings to a memorable wedding than the sight of the sun setting and rising behind the hills surrounding the estate. Dominium is the perfect choice for weddings of up to 150 people, with beautiful mountains and great organic wines, plus the proximity of the vineyards elevates the atmosphere of the ceremony and the wedding party (with the guests dancing till morning in the gorgeous outdoor scenery).
And if you “just” want to have a good time, you’re in the right place. At Dominium, it’s now a tradition to hold a Rum and Wine Festival every June for lovers of the truly sophisticated drink. In addition to the winery’s award-winning wines, you can taste and compare premium rums, and there’s a DJ to keep the party going.
The estate centre is located in the village of Farkasmály near the town of Gyöngyös, not far from the Farkasmály Cellar, the historic wine quarter and cellar of the town. Dani Orbán, one of Dominium’s founders and winemakers, has been organising Farkasmály Wine Party for years. This is a two-day wine festival where gastronomy and wine culture meet, you can taste wines from several wineries of Mátra wine region, take a guided cellar tour and enjoy concerts on the main stage.

If you’re just coming for a good family get-together
Dominium Winery is not only family friendly because it is truly the result of a family’s dreams and work. They don’t just think big, so in addition to weddings and corporate events, they also want to cater for smaller gatherings of family and friends.
The outdoor grill / barbecue pavilion is suitable for a professional chef, but amateur family members can also prepare delicious roasts. If you are going indoors, there are two separate rooms on the estate to make sure everyone can fit comfortably. You can gather together on the terrace, but the cellar is also strong in active relaxation: shooting range programmes, Segway, e-bike and hiking – all of which Dominium can help you organise.
If you are looking for one of the most complex wine country experiences of your life, or if you are looking to put together something truly unforgettable for your next team-building session, not to mention your wedding, then look no further than Dominium Winery.

Dominium is a pioneer in the volcanic Mátra wine region using grape varieties like the Spanish Tempranillo, the ancient Hungarian Turán or the Romanian Fetească Neagră. Feketeleányka is the literal translation of the Romanian name Fetească Neagră, meaning Black Maiden.
