Because they are made only in exceptional vintages, with outmost care and attention, thus there are no “lesser” vintages of these legendary red wines. 8 February, Infusio wine dinner and vertical tasting
Venue: Rosinante restaurant (near Budapest)
Taste Infusio, the flagship wine of the Winemaker of the Year! As we reported, Zsolt Liptai, the chief winemaker of Pannonhalma Archabbey Winery has received the most presigious title of the Hungarian wine trade after several years of being nominated. The dinner consists of amuse bouche, three courses, cheese selection and petit fours with wine pairings, all from the estate. The dinner is followed by a tutored tasting of three vintages of Infusio, conducted by Tamás Illés estate manager.

2 March, Etyeki Kúria Pinot Noir vertical tasting
Venue: Etyeki Kúria (near Budapest)
17 samples of Pinot Noir at wine event, isn’t it incredible? The estate started the series of Pinot tasting in 2010, they have grown this variety for 21 years. This year the guest winemaker is Enikő Luka from Sopron wine region, and participants can also taste Pinot from the Austrian Esterházy estate, the sister winery of Etyeki Kúria. The tasting is followed by a buffet dinner composed to accompany Pinot Noir. The tasting is commented by Hungarian wine experts, and as default it is not translated into English, but the estate finds a solution to everything, so do not hesitate to contact them if you wish to participate.

24 April, Kovács Nimród Battonage Chardonnay vertical tasting
Venue: Virtu restaurant, Budapest
Vince is a print wine magazine in Hungary, and they also run a wine club with several exclusive wine tastings. Eger is often dubbed as “the Burgundy of Hungary”, and Nimród Kovács, owner of Kovács Nimród Winery is probably the opinion leader in this case, he was the first to use bâtonnage and his Chardonnay aims to reach Burgundian highness, and his Battonage Chardonnay (yes, written with double ‘t’ and single ‘n’ here) is undoubtedly one of the best examples of the variety in Hungary. The vertical tasting is organised for the first time in Budapest, participants can taste 8 vintages from the current one: 2023, 2022, 2020, 2019, 2016, 2012, 2011 and 2007.
