Young and free – Junibor Festivity in Budapest

A youthful wine event

Junibor festivity is a vivid, youthful festival every year with second generation winemakers representing their family wineries. On 28 September – 1 October you can taste the wines from all the member wineries in one of the most spectacular square of Budapest, in front of Bazilika, in Szent István square. This square and the neighbouring streets are famous for the quality wine bars, like DiVino, which itself sells wines only from young winemakers. If you want to meet the young winemakers themselves, be sure to arrive between 19.00 and 21.00, because in this time slot they are awaiting guests themselves. (For more information about DiVino and other wine bars, see our wine bars menu!) The wineries are accompanied by street food exhibitors and young designers to ensure creativity throughout the whole event.

New generation on board!

The „big names”, like Attila Gere icon winemaker (Winemaker of the Year, 1994) is followed by his smart and highly educated daughter, Andrea, János Frittmann (also Winemaker of the Year, 2007) followed by his nephew, Péter Frittmann. Laposa winery has a brother and a sister in charge: Bence and Zsófia, and so one, altogether 33 great quality family wineries are represented by a second generation daughter and son. These enthusiastic young winemakers are not only highly qualified (usually with not only a university degree of oneology, but a WSET diploma as well from London or Rust, Austria), but also armed with experiences gained from abroad. They have their up to date knowledge, and the same time they respect their family heritage: a fruitful constellation which predestinates them to success.

Junibor Festivity is free admission.
