Wine of the Week: Heumann Trinitás 2015

Wine of the Week: Heumann Trinitás 2015

November has just began, and so the gloomy days, early evenings arrived. It is time for something soul lifting, meditating, layered – a wine that makes us warm and think at the same time. Trinitás, a Cabernet Franc from Villány received 92 sores out of 100 by Andreas Larsson renowned sommelier world champion at his last tasting of Hungarian wines (at the end of last year). Trinitás is the name of the vineyard from where the majority of the grapes come for this wine, the soil is loess with limestone. The wine was fermented under controlled temperature in stainless steel tanks, and aged in Hungarian barrique for 24 months. So what did the word famous sommelier think of the wine? Dense dark purple colour. Layered nose, dark berries, cassis, tobacco and fine wood. Very good grip on the palate, dense and concentrated fruit with a high tannin/extract, yet balanced even if young, savoury dark fruit notes with fine oak and spiciness, a fresh acidity underneath and a long lingering finish. Still young deserving to get some more ageing but fine potential.”
