3 gold medal winners from a tiny village
Jackfall Wine Manufacture’s latest success at Berliner Wine Trophy
The village of Jackfall is Kisjakabfalva, indeed a tiny village in Villány wine region, in the southernmost wine region of Hungary. The estate is run by two ladies, the female elegance is present everywhere: in the wines and in the dreamlike guesthouse as well. They have just won not one, not two, but three gold medals at the latest edition of Berliner Wine Trophy.

Let us introduce the gold medal winning wines
Jackfall Grand 2018
Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Syrah
The flagship wine of the estate made only in exceptional vintages. Serious, but not heavy body, refined tannins. Restrained, fruit driven nose and flavours. It fills the mouth with juicy, lingering fruity notes. An outstanding wine from a great vintage with long ageing potential. It is recommended to decant the bottle or at lease let it breathe for an hour before tasting it.
The retail price on the webshop of the winery is only 14 690 HUF / around 36 EUR – it is a steal!

Jackfall Cabernet Franc 2020
100% Cabernet Franc
The wine was selected in the Top 12 Villány Cabernet Franc Wines of 2024, a classicus wine, aged only for 6 months (a premium should be aged for 12, while a super premium for 12 in oak and another year in bottle). Jackfall Cabernet Franc Classicus 2020 is surprisingly concentrated, dark ruby, and the nose impresses us with some subtle coffee notes at the beginning followed by strawberry, plum and dried blueberries. Moderate oaky notes, intense tannins and acidity, and on the palate the fruity aromas take the lead. Full bodied wine with long finish.
The retail price on the webshop of the winery is only 4690 HUF / around 11.5 EUR – it is a steal!

Jackfall Cabernet Franc 3H 2019
100% Cabernet Franc
The combination of three different barrels is the essence that the Jackfall Villányi Franc 2019 3H blend presents. A soft fruitiness embraces the spectrum of Cabernet Franc’s distinctive notes, and its uniqueness is guided by consciousness and a spirit of experimentation.
The blend, aged in French and Hungarian barrique oak barrels from various cooperages, completes the harmony. Paired with delicately prepared red meats, it enhances the enjoyment of additional flavours with its spicy fruitiness.
The retail price on the webshop of the winery is 11 690 HUF / around 30 EUR.
