The most beloved winery

Vesztergombi Cellar has had a good year. Like last year, this year again they have been chosen the „Favourite Winery” of Pannon broader wine region (along with 4 other wineries), they have received countless gold medals at national and international competitions, export shipments to new markets are on the way, plus they have become the most popularHungarian wine on Amazon.com!

„Incredible success”

Csaba Vesztergombi, the son of Winemaker of the Year 1993 Ferenc Vesztergombi is young, energetic, ambitious, but ready to admit that for certain jobs he needs the help of other professionals. „I am not an expert of foreign markets, thus I work with a company (Happy Hungarian Wine) and I am very satisfied with the results. My wines are sold in the United Kingdom and a large shipment is on the way to Sweden.” And now the breaking news has just arrived: Vesztergombi Szekszárdi Bikavér (Bull’s Blood) is the most popular Hungarian wine on Amazon.com, its ranking is 126 among more than 4000 wines! This is an incredible success. We started to sell our wines only 5 month ago. Thanks to the Best of Hungary, our English partner. They make fantastic work for Hungarian wines and fine foods” – says Happy Hungarian Wine about the result.

The person behind the wines

Pécsi Borozó print and online wine magazine has organized public voting for the favourite wineries for the third time, prizes were handed over on 7th December at Advent Wine Salon in Pécs. Of course gold medals are important, but this prize is even more important, since this is the opinion of the most precious people: the customers. Plus Pannon broader wine region includes 4 wine regions, Villány, Szekszárd, Tolna and Pécs, so the acknowledgement involves thousands of winelovers. Pannon Top 5 wineries are (in alphabetical order): Belward (Pécs), Planina (Pécs), Prantner (Szekszárd), Szende (Villány), Vesztergombi (Szekszárd). Regarding the reason behind the success, Csaba is modest, he believes that he is good at social media tools and he could mobilize his followers. It must be true on one hand, but you can mobilize your followers if you have some, and to collect any, you have to work hard all days of the year. Open cellar days, participation in infinite wine festivals and 100% personal presence. „We never conduct a tasting with an employer. We accept a booking only if my father or I can pour the wines personally.” Of course, all this effort would not make any difference without great wines, but the Vesztergombis make outstanding wines as well. As we have already reported, VinCE Magazine published a „wineloving Advent Calendar” with a favourite wine of prominent Hungarian wine experts. Sebestyén Nagy winewriter and chief organizer of Borjour events picked a wine from Vesztergombi: Porkolábvölgyi Kékfrankos Válogatás 2017 (Blaufrankisch Selection from Porkoláb valley). „Plum, cinnamon, some cocoa powder on the nose, palate with sour cherries and aftertaste with subtle dark chocolate. Disciplined, dignified, balanced beauty – quicker than a wink she will become a wonderful, matured great wine.”
