Kristinus – on the bright side (Balaton)

South Balaton located Kristinus Wine Estate has made a U turn: from a highly fashionable wine estate they converted into organic and biodynamic winery with a whole range of animals and thriving crops in the vineyard. They grow oat (in the photo above) and collect dandelions at dawn to sprinkle the vines. Kristinus is not small, thus converting the whole estate totally, without compromise is not without risk, yet, Florian Zaruba estate manager decided get rid of gas masksduring sprinkling of the vineyards…

Koch – new release Organic Olaszrizling (Hajós–Baja)

Csaba Koch Winemaker of the Year 2019 is the father of “Happy Grapes”, the inventor of a concept to make his vines as happy as they can be. Csaba has already released two organic wines and now the third is available as well made of Olaszrizling (aka Welschriesling), the most widely planted quality grape of Hungary. The grapes were hand picked,fermented in stainless steel and aged in new Hungarian small oak barrels for 8 months. The resulting wine is typical of the variety with bitter almond notes, honey, pear and a touch of vanilla from the barrel. Complex wine with harmonious acidity, full body.

Patricius – Green Furmint from Bábakút vineyard (Tokaj)

The estate has a whole range of Furmint wines, Green is obviously the “greenest one” of the line from an organic vineyard called Bábakút. The wine fermented and aged in stainless still, and with its 7.8 g/l acidity is most refreshing, sleek and pure to perfection. “Clean and elegant fruity character of Furmint, complemented with a perfumed nose. Thanks to the piroxen-andezyte baserock the palate brings nice minerality and elegance. Uniquely balanced natural to-drink terroir white wine.“
