Natural wines tasting in Budapest

„You are what you drink”

The annual „Mitiszol” (’Whatdoyoudrink’) wine tasting takes place on 17 November. Around 100 wines can be tasted – all of them are made of organically grown grapes, and vinified in the most possible natural way. Apart from the 30 producers from 10 Hungarian wine regions, some foreign wine exhibitors make the event more exciting with iconic names like Weingut Eymann from Germany, Fidora Tenuta from Italy or Hacienda Grimón from Spain. Not only wines, but also food and other beverages are on display – certainly made in organic, natural way – like cider, beer, fruit juices, coffee.

Dobosi – organic wines from Balaton

A family winery with long history and with a young and enthusiastic winemaker – this is Dobosi Organic Winery from Balaton Uplands. The winery has several national and international acknowledgements from prestigious contests, just to mention one: their 2017 vintage Bio Juhfark won gold medal at the latest edition of German Mundus Vini. The grapes come from 14 year old vines from red limestone and loam soil, the hand harvest took place on the 30th of September, and the resulting wine is a must to taste: “Light colour with pale yellow shades. Medium intensity on the nose with mineral notes, reminiscent of stone fruit. After some areation subtle aromas of tropical fruits appear. When swirling the glass, the wine moves around with momentum. Refreshing, clear palate with complexitiy you would not expect from such a young wine. It has a good potential, refined acidity keeps it firmly.”
