’Egri Borműhely’, in English Eger Wine Workshop has been founded by ten Eger winemakers. Their objective is „to develop their wine ranges, to finetune the existing brands and to establish standards for the highest wine category. In practical terms this means improving the image of Egri Bikavér (’Bulls’ Blood’), strengthening the market presence of Egri Csillag (Star of Eger, the community white blend), redefining Szépasszony-völgy (Valley of Pretty Ladies, a place with lesser reputation), creating and introducing a special Eger bottle and making the wine region more attractive to younger customers.”  Though the association is new, the founding members are all wellknown, respected wine producers: Bolyki Winery and Vineyards, Egri Csillagok Ltd, Eszterházy Károly University, Gál Tibor Winery, Juhász Brothers Winery, Ostoros Family Winery, Petrény Winery, St. Andrea Winery and Vineyards, Thummerer Winery and Vineyards, Tóth Ferenc Winery. Let’s cheer to the new initiative with a méthode traditionelle sparkling wine made by one of the founding members, Thummerer Winery. „After a business trip in Champagne, France, the idea of the technological background was designed so we purchased the essential machines from Epernay, France. We first harvested for sparkling base wine in 2013. Beside Chardonnay and Pinor Noir, we chose Királyleányka as a Hungarian vaiety, from Kőkötő vineyard”– says the winery about how tha wine was created.
