Babarczi Vineyard and Winery
Babarczi Vineyard and Winery is situated in one of the smallest wine regions of Hungary, Pannonhalma wine region, at the edge of Small Plain. The family owned winery was founded in 1980 and it is currently run by the second generation of the family.
At the beginning we planted only 3.000 m2, by now we are a winery cultivating 60 hectares. Most of the vineyards are located around the communes of Tényő and Győrújbarát, but we cultivate additional vineyards in Pannonhalma.
In 2002 a large scale investment established the the technological background of our high standard winemaking, since new equipments were added to the existing barrels. The new stainless steel tank with large capacity is suitable for temperature controlled fermentation and sedimentation, while the stainless steel storing tank increased our storage capacity significantly. At the same time we built a tasting venue suitable for 80 people, where wine dinners are frequently held. The family worked a lot to launch and to improve wine tourism in the wine region. We have hosted guests for 10 years, our most popular wine tasting includes 6–8 wines, and our cellar is one of the destinations of several regional wine tours.
All the members of the family agree that nationwide recognition of Pannonhalma wine region is to be achieved through reductive white wines. We make our wines with this concept in mind and the selection of the grape varieties also follows this philosphy. In our vineyards we grow grapes like Olaszrizling, Rhine Riesling, Irsai Olivér, Kékfrankos, Cserszegi Fűszeres and Pinot blanc.
Our high quality wines made of high quality grapes have found secure market within Hungary, and we have conducted several export shipments to Slovakia, the Checz Republic, Austria, Germany and the United Kingdom.
Nowadays 300–350 thousand litres of wine are produced in the winery, out of which nearly 200.000 litres are exported in bulk to Czech and Italian large wine plants, the rest is bottles within the winery. The estate constantly employs 8 people and some additional people are employed in the vineyards.
Babarczi wines are first and foremost available in Budapest and in the city of Győr nearby, and obviously they are sold in the restaurant, wine bars of the region. We are proud, because are wines are also selected in the sortiment of Michelin star restaurants in Budapest. Among our clients there are wholesale companies and our bulk wines are also top selling products.
Babarczi portfolio consists of mainly white wines, but we produce red wine in a smaller amount as well. Every year we increase the number of our accolades in both national and international competitions.
With the joined force of the family members, our aim is to create an estate, which will thrive through generations, will improve dynamically and will have the ability to renew from time to time. Our objective is the show the potential and the unique characteristics of Pannonhalma wine region through all the wines made in the winery.

Buborczi
This wine is a unique exciting blend of the peachy acidity and lightness of Müller Thurgau, the spicy aromas of Pinot Gris and Irsai Olivér’s perfumed, elderflower notes. Fine bubbles caress the palate, while its fragrant fruit character and lively acidity make this wine the refreshing drink of the summer.
Pannonhalmi Irsai Olivér 2020
Pale yellow colour. Medium intense nose with elderberry, white flowers and citrus notes. Refreshing, gentle acidity combined with a palate reminiscent of the aromas of the nose. Light body, spicy tones. A crispy, juicy, light wine typical of the variety.
Pannonhalmi Olaszrizling 2020
A quality wine full of character with instantly recognisable aromas reminiscent of almond. It has a balanced acidity and good length.
Pannonhalmi Sauvignon Blanc 2019
A supple, medium-bodied, elegant wine with a refreshing balanced nose reminiscent of elderflower, nettle and white-fleshed fruit. Its delightful lemon crispness and firm acidity awakens your taste buds, softened with hints of peach and tropical fruit. It lingers extensively on the palate.
Pannonhalmi Chardonnay 2019
The fruit for this Chardonnay comes from a vineyard called Baron Hill, one of the best vineyards of Győrújbarát with the most potential. Its nose and palate reflect freshness and fruitiness, but the characteristic mineral notes are also present. Pear, apple and floral tones pair with zesty acidity. Ideal with fish plates, but perfect in itself as well.
Pannonhalmi Rajnai Rizling 2019
The Pannonhalma vineyards reserve a small select area for this grape originating from the Rhine region, now of international popularity. A wine of strong character, it naturally draws attention to itself with its well balanced refreshing levels of acidity and fleshy palate.
Pannonhalmi Kékfrankos Rozé 2020
This rosé is made of 100% Kékfrankos. It perfectly displays the characteristics of the variety and reflects the terroir of Pannonhalma wine region both on the nose and on the palate. Intense strawberry and raspberry notes lifted by the vivacious, medium acidity.
Pannonhalmi Kékfrankos 2019
The nose is characteristic of the variety: cool sour cherry and cherry with herbs. Medium body, ethereal palate, great balance, vibrant acidity and firm tannins. A Kékfrankos easy to fall in love with.
