Amazing success of Kreinbacher Estate at 5th CSWWC

The high quality estate of Somló wine region has been successful at the renowned contest for the 4thtimes. The world’s most prestigious sparkling wine competition, The Champagne & Sparkling Wine World Championships 2018 was held in Kent (UK) and took 10 days to evaluatewines from all over the world. 116 Gold & 128 Silver medals have been awarded in this year’s competition to 18 countries. CSWWC does not announce the names of wines which are evaluated bronze or under.

Tom Stevenson British sparkling expert, founder of CSWWC and chairman of the judges, explains “With the spread of technology and expertise world class sparkling can now be found in countries where the fizz was undrinkable or non-existent 10 years ago. While France and Italy remain the two most important countries in terms of their number of entries, the increase in entries from the USA, UK, Austria, Brazil, Chile, Hungary and South Africa has averaged in excess of 75%.”Kreinbacher Estate from Somló has proved to be the most successful of Hungary with two gold and two silver medals. Two vintage magnums were awarded gold, while Prestige Brut and Brut Classic both have won silver medals.

The most outstanding sparkling wine of the estate attained a richer and more harmonious character in the magnum bottle, the bubbles are notably smooth. After more than three years ageing on the lees it reveals a sophisticated complexity on the nose: flowers, lime and mango, a touch of roasted hazelnuts and toast. Smooth and elegant, the mousse is complete. Well-structured sparkling wine with neat aromas and refreshing acidity lingering in the palate. Remarkable length. Limited edition in numbered bottles and design carton.

  • Brut Classic 2015 Magnum, 85% Furmint, 15% Chardonnay

The blend is aged for three years on the lees to obtain a rich, elegant sparkling wines. Limited edition in numbered bottles and design carton. 2015 will be available from November.
