Female instinct in the glass – Women’s Day in Budapest
On 8 March „Cherchéz la femme” tasting will take place for the second time at Sofitel Chain Bridge hotel. 30 winemakers will pour their wines – all of them are women! The organizer is Edit Szabó winewriter, who wrote her special cookery book in 2017 with 26 interviews, 52 recipes and 52 wine recommendations. Some of the exhibiting wineries: Babarczi Winery (Pannonhalma), Csetvei Cellar (Mór),Gere Attila Winery (Villány), Tóth Ferenc Winery (Eger), Sauska (Tokaj and Villány), Vylyan Vineyard and Winery (Villány), Zsirai WInery (Tokaj).
Tickets cost 7000 HUF (22 euros) / person if purchased in advance and 8500 HUF (27 euros) at the venue.

Enthusiastic, energic and always busy with the matters of her family winery in the second smallest wine region of Hungary. The winery is specialized at reductive, fresh white wines, though their first red wine has been released as well made of Kékfrankos variety. Their webside is available in English from now!
Just like Zsuzsanna, also Katalin works at the family winery established by her father.Eger wine region is quite versatile, thus Tóth Ferenc Winery produces crispy yet complex red whites along with the famous blend of the region called Bikavér. This year the winery has received the precious title of The Best White Wine given by the Circle of Hungarian Winewriters.
Fruzsina was the winemaker of the world famous Royal Tokaji (partially owned by Hugh Johnson) before starting her career at Sauska. She will have space for creativity: Sauska Tokaj grows the traditional Tokaj varieties (Furmint, Hárslevelű, Yellow Muscat) along with the international Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. Regarding the question of being a female winemaker Fruzsina said: „In my opinion with logically planned steps every objective is achievable. The soil will not be scared of me cultivating him. From this aspect if I am a woman or man will not make any difference.”
