Ferenc Tóth – Eger Grapegrower of the Year

Winemaker of the Year is a precious award, it is given to someone, who has been making high quality wines all his life. Grapegrower of the Year is partially less than that, this award is not about wine, but in a way this prize is even more precious: the Grapegrower of the Year is a viticulturist, who cares about the future, who plants new vineyards, who produces exceptional quality fruit, who keeps his vineyard neat and healthy, who contributes to the success of the whole wine region. The award has been given since 1995, and among the previous winners we can see iconic names of Eger like Vilmos Thummerer or late Tibor Gál. Ferenc Tóth has been a grapegrower all his life, and the winery is celebrating its 35 year anniversary this year. Ferenc Tóth is well known as the ambassador of the varieties Leányka and Kadarka, he has proved the potential of these grapes with several award winning wines. His Bikavér Superior wines are also obligatory when talking about Eger wine region. Congratulations to Ferenc Tóth for the well deserved acknowledgement!
