A Canadian article and video about Tokaj wines

Barb Wild Canadian wine writer and educator has recently published an article about the history and the contempory wine initiatives of Hungarian Tokaj wine region. As she points out, single vineyard dry wines and bottle fermented sparkling wines: “Today, wineries produce dry, single varietal whites and traditional-method sparkling wines that raise eyebrows and excite taste buds” and mentions Sauska estate, which makes superb bubbles with Régis Camus, the legendary Champagne cave master.

Barb is a devoted wine writer, passionate about Hungarian wines – she even has some Hungarian bloodthat might drive her motifs… –, in 2019 she travelled to the old continent and visited Hungary. She tasted through herself all the styles of Tokaj at Patricus Winery, thus all her statements are first case information. Her recent piece is a brilliant introduction to Tokaj for those who have not heard too much about this gem of the wine world, but also gives up-do-date information and tips to those who are already familiar with Tokaj.

“OMG, it is so good!”

The article ends with a video of Somm TV with Claire Coppi (above) tasting Patricius Aszú 5 Puttonyos 2017. She explains the “puttonyos” term and the procedure of making Tokaji Aszú, and she is quite impressed by the wine – watch her falling in love with the glass of Tokaj!
