Egri Bikavér Classicus 2020

Type of wine: Dry, Red 

Grape varieties: 50% of the blend is from grape varieties originated in the Carpathian Basin, while the other 50% is of international varieties. We added Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon and Syrah to the Kékfrankos base. The final product is a full-bodied wine with nose of red fruits and spices. 

Alcohol: 14.5% 

Acidity: 5.3 g/l 

Residual sugar: 2.5 g/l 

Extract: 29.6 g/l 

Technology: The fermentation process took 18 months in wooden barrels, with whole malolactic fermentation, which was followed by a long period of bottle maturing to maximalize its complexity. 

Serving temperature: 16–18°C 

Food pairing: Serve with pork, lamb and venison meals, cabbage dishes.

Story: Bikavér is the most famous red blend of Eger. According to a legend, István Dobó’s fighters drank this in 1552, before and along the defendance of the castle against the Turkish troops.

Description

Ruby color, rich, spicy and smooth tannins. Reminiscent of redcurrant on the nose complementing the wonderful fragrance resulted from the barrel fermentation.
