Terroir, vineyard: Among all our Kékfrankos plantings Bati Kereszt is the most protected plot where ripening and harvest are delayed by 2-3 weeks compared to other vineyards. The prolonged growing season adorns the wines with typically delicate, floral aromas.
Vineyard management: Carefully planned, low intervention protection of the vineyard. Herbicides and insecticides are avoided (certified organic conversion started in 2020. Manual shoot and bunch selection. Average yield: 6 tons / hectare.
Harvest: Hand harvest in 15 kg boxes on 28 September 2018.
Technology: Spontaneous fermentation in a stainless steel fermenter. Delicate extraction with daily 2x pump-over. Pressed without pumping after 27 days of skin contact. Spontaneous malolactic fermentation. Barrel aging for 8 months in large, 1000 litre Hungarian barrels. Estate bottled without fining and filtration.
Quality level: Single vineyard wine of limited quantity.
Temperature: 16 °C
Food pairing: Dishes made of piglet, pork and lamb, red flesh game poultry, duck and goose. Pairs well with plates garnished with fruit, beetroot, red cabbage or sweet potato.

Plenty of fruit on the nose, mainly sour cherry. Pleasantly gentle, rounded, tame. Natural and simple, easy to drink, smooth wine with medium finish.
