Food pairing:  A gorgeous partner of a whole range of dishes. It is complex enough, thus you can try bolder combinations of flavours. Matured cheeses, fish plates, creamy pastas – they are just as great partners with the wines as a lamb or mangalitza (a breed of pig) course. Because of the mild smokiness coming from the barrel and the saline minerality, this wine works well with grilled food seasoned with more characteristic spices (nutmeg, coriander). Grilled vegetable gratin is another stunning food pairing.

Retail price:  2490 HUF / 7–8 EUROS
Importers:  Belgium (Qwine), Italy (Alternavino), Slovakia (Beer&wine Depot PWR s.r.o.), UK (Novel Wines, The Wine Society)

Description

This Olaszrizling, of which two thirds was aged in barrel, boasts prominent estate character. Subtly, gently saline, but at the same time fiercely vibrant – this vibrant character is detectable both on the nose and palate, accompanied with soft floral tones. Thanks to the barrel ageing, a little sweetish tea leaf is also there from the first sniff to the finish – like some lovely background music.
