Rod Smith MW – the fastest wine writer!
The France based British wine writer, owner of Riviera Wine Academy blog visited Kurt Taschner, Sopron wine maker yesterday, and his wine reviews are already published! This speedy work is not usual in the wine trade, much appreciated! Thus we will share the link immediately as well. Rod gives a detailed and humorous description of Sopron wine region for example here: „Nevertheless Sopron was probably producing some of the best of the eastern bloc wines during the 1950s to 1980s, but they remained well hidden and difficult to find. Possibly because of their restorative effect following dental surgery..! ”.Mr Smith is a lecturer at WSET Academy in Rust, which is only a few minutes’ drive from Sopron, hence he decided to visit Taschner Winery and Sparkling Wine Cellar for a brief tasting. After the indroduction of the winery he carries on with the evaluation of the wines. His favourite wine of the range was Kékfrankos Classic 2017. „Fresh blue fruit aromas. Inviting, some hints sweet spice. Juicy crunchy tannins. Fresh and delicious. 16 points.”
