„Sparks will fly” – a bubbly tasting in Budapest

Haraszthy and other great sparkling wines at Borjour

On 28 December, close enough to New Year’s Eve you will have the opportunity to taste a wide range of sparkling wines to decide what to drink at the very last midnight of the year. Borjour team will hold its annual end-of-year sparkling tasting at Stefánia Palace, a charming villa not far from the centre of Budapest (close to Heroes’ Square). Hungarian méthode traditional sparkling wines, Spanish cavas, French crémants and Italian proseccos are all available for tasting for ticket holders, champagne is to be purchased individually. Haraszthy Winery from Etyek region is one of the exhibitors, and one that has started to produce bottle fermented sparkling wine only recently. Their 2012 vintage (released last year) Chardonnay–Pinot Noir blend aged for 48 months on the lees, and it has become a really fine, elegant wine with only one deficiency: only a few hundred bottles were made, and it is hard to find any now. However their refreshing, juicy Sir Irsai areated sparkling wine made of indigenous Irsai Olivér will surely be poured at the event: refreshing fruitiness, flowers of the meadow, muscat aromas and flavours.

Tickets cost 6000 HUF/ person (18.5 euros), and it contains a voucher worth 2000 HUF to be spent on a bottle of sparkling wine.
For tickets click here (the website is in Hungarian, but for buying tickets click on ’JÖVÖK’ in the top right section of the page or buy ticket at the venue). The event is on from 5 pm to 10 pm.
