Teleki Pinot Noir White Brut – golden bubbles
Wine of the Weekend
“If one is able to produce sparkling wine in Villány, it does not mean that he should…” – this was a malicious comment of a Hungarian sommelier at an event, pouring the first edition of Teleki Pinot Noir Rosé Brut. I was shocked by her comment. Though I consider myself a wine writer, rather than a wine expert, 20 years of passion for sparkling wine makes me confident. I knew that she was wrong, and my opinion was justified by countless serious acknowledgments.
Now, the white brother of Teleki Pinot Noir Rosé is collecting gold medals, the most recent one is a Berliner Wine Trophy gold medal, after the almost recent Asian Wine Trophy gold medal. So, yes, even the southernmost wine region of Hungary can give great method traditional sparkling wines in good hands. Carefully selected pots, early harvest, state-of-the-art machinery and craftmanship.
