Top 10 Hungarian wines by Oz Clarke

Top 10 Hungarian wines by Oz Clarke

Two weeks ago a wine tasting took place at the Embassy of Hungary in London, in which buyer.net winewriter Chris Wilson participated  among other renowned wine critics. The tasting was organized by Wines of Hungary, and as Chris reports, the event displayed more than 70 wines, and included a food and wine pairing. „The dishes chosen not only gave an insight into traditional and modern Hungarian cuisine but really helped showcase the diversity and flexibility of Hungary’s wine grapes and styles. From dry Muscat and Pinot Noir to native grapes Furmint, Hárslevelű and Járdovány and classic sweet Tokaji, the breadth of styles and flavours really impressed– wrote Chris Wilson. Oz Clarke wine expert was host of the tasting, and though his Hungarian pronunciation is not perfect yet (according to the writer his speech was reminiscent of the episode of Red Dwarf where everyone speaks backwards), he is enthusiastic about Hungarian wines and sees a bright future for our wines in the UK. Oz Clarke picked 10 wines to go with the dishes, all of them are good choices like Kikelet Hárslevelű 2015 from Tokaj, Kovács Nimród 777 Pinot Noir 2015 from Eger, Gere Attila Járdovány 2016 from Villány or Koch Kékfrankos 2016 from Hajós–Baja.
