Patricius Tokaji Sárga Muskotály Tokaj Hungary

Wine of the Weekend: Patricius Sárga Muskotály

Many advanced wine connoisseurs refuse aromatic grapes, they find all the Muscat family wines a bit too easy to understand, to overwhelming. And many times, with reason. However, Patricius Winery can make an elegant, gracious wine of the variety.

Grape: Sárgamuskotály (meaning ‘Yellow Muscat’, mostly written together, but Patricius uses an archaic spelling).
Soil: volcanic, very rich in minerals
Terroir: The grape was selected from Sajgó and Szárhegy vineyards, the harvest took place in the middle of September in 2023.
Technology: Fermented and matured in stainless steel tanks.
Alcohol: 12%, residual sugar: 4.9 g/l, acidity: 6,7 g/l
Enchanting elegant fruitiness, floral and herbs on the nose, the taste is characterized by minerality of the volcanic soil and crispy acidity. Perfect choice to refresh yourself on summer evenings. The intense, smooth, floral aromas of the grape variety can be tasted in the wine as well thanks to the careful winemaking. A classic, well-known wine of Patricius, a real star amongst the wine.”
