Furmint February 2.0 in London

The 1.0 version was so successful that the organizer Wines of Hungary UK received an award for the Best Trade Campaign. The event will take place on 29 January in Merchant Taylors’ Hall, 30 (Threadneedle Street in London). Zsuzsa Toronyi, manager of the event puts all her effort to place Furmint in the limelight again, and her effectiveness is proved by several articles in British wine media. TheBuyer.net quotes Caroline Gilby MW praising the merits of the variety and draws attention to a new feature to the 2nd edition: „Longevity and age-ability are characteristics that will be explored through a vertical tasting going back to 2003.” Harpers emphasises the larger scale of the 2nd edition: „…wineries participating had grown from 26 at this year’s tasting to the 35 signed up for 2020’s event, with the number of wines on display set to reach more than 150 compared to the 90 showcased this year.”  DrinksRetailingNews is drawing attention to an important element of the campaign: Furmint February 2020 offers retailers the chance to win a trip to Tokaj, just like last year. We will update information with the list of exhibitors later, but Zsirai Winery from Mád, Tokaj is already confirmed to participate. ’Középhegy’ Furmint by Zsirai is a single vineyard dry Furmint in limited quantity: only 1200 bottles are available from vintage 2017. On the nose pear, quince, typical furmint. The palate is very concentrated. The terroir gives a very expressive minerality. Elegant, a real individuality with long ageing potential.”
