A new wine restaurant in Szekszárd
Heimann Family Estate and their ‘Birtokbistro’
The Heimanns have always been good at hospitality, many wine tourists have already pilgrimed to the estate in the beautiful, vineyard covered Iván Valley. Since this spring there has been another reason to go to Szekszárd, especially at weekends, when Heimann Birtokbistro is open.
Ágnes Heimann, wife of the founder has long been known for her cooking virtues, and now the family have teamed up with renowned chef Viktor Ekler and opened their in site restaurant. “It’s nice to have a glass of wine in hand, to admire the vine-covered Iván Valley, to hear about Heimann wines first hand and to relax in good company. We’re taking this experience to the next level: in the kitchen, we prepare seasonal dishes typical of our region, using local and regional ingredients, with the effortless bistro-flair, matched to our wines.”
The menu includes welcome bites like ‘Stifolder paté, marinated vegetables, homemade bread’, in which Stifolder is a traditional local (Swabish) sausage. A main course like this might sound international: ‘Wagyu thick flank, fumet sauce, crispy potato dumplings’, however, the wagyu comes from Ófalu, a nearby village.
“We want the Birtokbisztró to be a cosy place: one with the personal presence of our family, delicious wines and refined dishes, contemporary paintings on the walls and happy, returning guests.” – commented the family.
The bistro is open at weekends (Friday 17.00–22.00, Saturday: 12.00–22.00, Sunday: 12.00–16.00).
