Double Heumann success in Taiwan

Heumann Winery from Villány enjoys the appreciation of Taiwanese experts, this fact has been proved twice recently. Besides Chateau Dereszla Sushi Wine and two more Hungarian wines have received acknowledgement.

Wine and Gourmet Exhibition (photo above) is one of the most important trade events in Taiwan attracting ten thousands of visitors every year. The expo has an in house wine contest, where wines are judged in different price ranges. Only 3 or 4 wines are selected in each category, and we are proud to announce that three Hungarian wines are selected among the precious 2020 WGT Annual Selection of only 26 wines: Heumann Cabernet Franc 2012 (Villány), St. Andrea Boldogságos 2016 (Eger), Kreinbacher Furmint 2015 (Somló).

Heumann Winery has collected another acknowledgment from the annual wine contest of the leading Taiwanese trade magazine called Wine and Spirit Digest. Heumann Lagona 2012 has won double bronze medal, while a Tokaj wine made especially for the Asian market, Chateau Dereszla Sushi Wine 2015 has won double silver!

Long term success

The above mentioned Hungarian wines are all imported by Chifu importing company. “Our objective is to present the best Hungarian market for the Taiwanese customers” – says May Hsieh, CEO of Chifu. “Since the beginning we have introduced wine introduced wines which are already wellknown in Hungary. This way Taiwanese travellers can buy the wines in their home country and can recall the good memories of their earlier trip” – added Gyula Weber Chifu vice-president in charge of wine buying.

A velvety red blend

For Heumann Lagona 2015 it is not the first medal: in 2019 it won gold medal at Concours Mondial du Bruxelles, while Andreas Larsson Swedish word champion sommelier gave it 91 scores. Lagona is a red blend made of 40% Merlot, 30% Cabernet Sauvignon,15% Cabernet Franc and 15 % Kékfrankos (Blaufränkisch). “Purple color. In the nose red berries with a hint of vanilla. On the palate red currents and raspberries. Lively yet velvet with smooth tannins. Elegant wine with long finish.”

A floral white to go with sushi

Tokaj wine has long enjoyed a reputation to pair well with several iconic dishes of Asian cuisine. Chateau Dereszla, one of the oldest wineries of Tokaj wine region has created a wine especially for sushi. The blend of Furmint, Hárslevelű and Yellow Muscat is aromatic and floral, and thanks to the high acidity of Tokaj grapes, it copes up with the greasiness of the most sushi fillings.
