Terroir, vineyard: Bács mountain with clay soil. The vines were planted in the 1970s.

Harvest: Hand harvested in October, relatively late to achieve fully ripened grapes.
Technology: Fermented in 1000 litre new oak barrel and aged on fine lees with batonnage for 6 months. It was bottled in June 2021 and bottle aged until its market release in spring 2022. Long bottle ageing is very important for Borbély Family Winery. Though the harvest took place late, the wine is dry, therefore the alcohol is a bit high, however, it is fully integrated and in balance with the wine.

Recommended retail price: 4900 HUF / 13 EUR
Story: Borbély winery pays special attention to Olaszrizling variety, which is the most planted grape around Lake Balaton. Tamás Borbély, who received the prestigious title Winemaker of the Year in 2020, is also dubbed as “Mr Olaszrizling” due to his passion for the variety. The estate uses an older spelling of the grape, this is why Olasz rizling is written in two words on their labels.
